Our Energy & Chemicals Survey Operations Manager position is accountable for successfully building the E&C survey business and successful delivery of projects and deliverables (includes traditional land survey and laser scanning). Responsibilities include leading a professional team of Project Surveyors, Field Survey Coordinators, Survey Technicians and support professionals with one goal-to exceed our Client's expectations through creativity and technological innovation and by delivering gas and liquids pipeline and facility survey projects on time and within budget.

Our Survey Operations Manager:

Leads and develops a team of highly engaged and productive survey professionals in the successful delivery of pipeline surveys from initial scoping, through permitting, land (ROW) acquisition, survey and engineering through construction support to record surveys.
Leads and develops a team of laser scanning professionals to support the diverse portfolio of E&C projects.
Works in partnership with local and regional Project Delivery Managers to supervise project delivery within multiple offices to assure consistent quality work product from CH2M HILL Survey group.
Works in partnership with Business Development to build the pipeline and terminals business, focused on but not limited to North America.
Works in partnership with internal GIS/Mapping team to develop efficiencies, through technology developments and workflows.
Has overall accountability to retain, develop, train, attract and promote survey department staff.
Develops staff that have a PLS license in the states where we conduct business Leads Survey and laser scanning staff to ensure the efficient delivery of project scope within budget/schedule and with high quality Supports, champions and participates in E&C best practices, Pipeline Leadership initiatives and quality initiatives.
Deploys common systems, processes and tools that are consistent across the E&C group strategic direction and also consistent with E&C best practices/processes.
Collaborates with Enterprise Geospatial community on best practices in survey, laser scanning and remote sensing.
Motivates a high performing leadership team across multiple offices Markets services to external and internal clients.
Works with internal business groups to support survey and laser scanning needs.
Supports survey and laser scanning proposals.

SPECIAL NOTE: CH2M HILL will not sponsor a work visa (e.g. H-1B

Basic Qualifications

Associates's degree in a Technical Discipline PLS in one of states in the western US
Minimum of 10 years applicable Technical and or Project Management experience
Minimum 5 years in management or leadership role in the oil & gas pipeline industry
Knowledge and successful experience with project delivery services, project delivery workflow and tools
Thorough working knowledge of markets served including the types of projects executed by each
Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

10-20 years applicable survey experience is preferred
PLS License in multiple states
Industry connections with pipeline and terminalling companies for assisting the development of relationships

Degree Required

Associates or 2 Year Degree

Preferred Years of Experience

20 - 30 years
