Job Description: 

Position Summary:

We are seeking n Assistant Supervisor, Forensic Auditor - Internal Audit to provide independent advice and appraisals of AECOM operations to the Director, Audit Services and management in relation to the appropriateness, effectiveness and compliance with policies, processes and internal control frameworks surrounding financial integrity, business risk management, legal compliance and ethics/integrity. Position can be based in our Los Angeles global corporate headquarters, or offices in Richmond, VA. Other locations with proximity to AECOM offices and a major airport will be considered.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 



  • Assist the Vice President, Audit Services in conducting timely special forensic investigations into any allegations of impropriety regarding AECOM’s assets/information and report on findings/opinions and, where appropriate, any recommendations for improvement.   Investigations will be conducted in accordance with approved Investigation Protocols.

  • Conduct special reviews at the request of the Audit and Compliance Committee and management into any aspect of AECOM activities and report on findings/opinions and, where appropriate, any recommendations for improvement.

  • Conduct internal audits involving the review, evaluation and reporting to management at the appropriate level on the compliance, efficiency and effectiveness of key management systems (i.e. risk management, internal control and compliance frameworks).  

· Develop and conduct a program of automated audit across core business processes and undertake forensic data analysis in support of other internal audit activities as required.


  • Provide input in the development of the annual Internal Audit Plan, with specific emphasis on ensuring adequate audit coverage of key business risks, compliance systems, core processes and strategic initiatives.

  • Prepare regular reports to Management and to the Audit Committee highlighting key findings, improvement opportunities and subsequent management actions.

  • Support management and the Board to promote a culture of compliance and integrity within AECOM.

  • Support entry into new geographic markets and merger and acquisition activities; identify synergy and overlap as well as process and cultural differences that represent the potential for gaps/conflicts and therefore require management attention.

  • Contribute to and participate on enterprise-wide team initiatives with Internal Audit colleagues to share real-time information, establish best practices, identify risks, and refine processes

Position Requirements:


  • Must possess an undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or equivalent. (post graduate qualifications in a related are also preferable).
  • Professional qualifications including Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and one of the following:  Certified Financial Forensics (AICPA) or Certified Forensic Financial Analyst (CFFA - NACVA) are required.
  • Must have demonstrated with proficiency with audit interrogation software (e.g. ACL) and formal training in forensic data analysis (which may include a formal credential) is desirable.
  • Proficiency with organizational, reporting, analysis and software packages (e.g. MSWord, MSExcel and MSAcess, etc. required.  Proficiency with enterprise financial systems also required.  Oracle experience desirable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to:  professional confidentiality, excellence, and adherance to laws, policies, procedures, codes, standards and guidelines that relate to this position required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% both domestically and internationally (Valid Passport) required.
