Minimum Requirements: B.S. degree required in Engineering
Minimum of nine years of experience; and a Professional Engineering license in Illinois or Indiana.
This position requires a person with both project management and engineering technical expertise. Previous experience with project management including project scoping, scheduling and budgeting; and supervising and mentoring junior staff. Technical expertise must include remediation system operations, maintenance, and design; and LNAPL management. Candidate must be experienced in working in an active industrial setting with strict safety requirements and control of work rules. Other requirements include frequent travel to northwest Indiana in candidate's personal vehicle (with mileage reimbursement); ability to work both independently and as part of a team; strength in multi-tasking; effective time management; written and oral communication skills; strong problem solving abilities; strong work safety culture; and a desire to learn and grow professionally. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint is required. Successful candidate will be comfortable with both field and office tasks; will show solid decision-making, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills; and will be able to lead multiple projects, as needed. Successful candidate will be expected to complete 10 hour OSHA construction training, will be expected to obtain URS project management certification (approximately 60 hours), and will be required to obtain homeland security clearance (TWIC). Must be a US citizen and have the ability to obtain US Government Secret.

Job Description: The position is is for an engineer with excellent technical and project management skills who is comfortable with a demanding industrial client. Responsibilities include project management tasks such as preparation of budgets and schedule, cost estimating, staff supervision, project conceptualization and execution including task delegation, taking leadership on field safety, and frequent client interaction. Environmental engineering responsibilities include performance of technical work such as troubleshooting remediation equipment; site investigations; environmental remediation system design; remedial alternatives evaluation; and report preparation.
Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined engineering methods. Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluations, tests, products or equipment when necessary data are insufficient or confirmation by testing is advisable. Usually performs as a staff advisor and consultant as to technical specialty, a type of facility, industry, equipment or program function. Conducts peer reviews and makes technical presentations. May supervise staff on a routine or project basis.
May develop and evaluate project plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others. Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering for a larger scope projects. Regularly develops and evaluates project plans.
Tracks overall financial performance of task assignment. This will include coordinating with the Project Manager to monitor sold time and work backlog on task
Identifies potential clients and work. Secures and manages clients and contracts. Assists Business Line Managers in the development of new business, marketing to potential and existing clients. Provides advice and consultation to client on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulations.
Additional responsibilities will be determined based upon the needs of remediation group clients and may require priorities to be adjusted on short notice. Position will report to a senior project manager and will work with various engineers, scientists and administrative personnel. Additionally, candidate will interact with safety and human resources staff to address URS, client, and individual needs. EOE M/F/D/V
