Job Summary: Provide educational opportunities to visiting classrooms

Experience: Experience at a nature center or outdoor classroom
Education: Bachelor’s degree required in natural science or education with emphasis on science, or environmental science
Other Requirements:
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee must posses the ability to transport self at least three miles per day in an outdoor situation. The ability to handle a variety of living creatures is also required in this position. Requires moving on and off of boats and moving along boardwalks within swamps.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work with students and teachers in class-size groups under a variety of conditions including inside in museums and theaters, and outside in natural ecosystems. Approximately 80% of time outside in a swamp ecosystem in both hot and cold weather. These areas are commonly wet, humid, extremely hot or cold. Noise levels are generally quiet. Environment includes blooming plants, plant saps, fertilizers and other possible allergens. Tasks may require exposure to insects, snakes and/or rodents according to prevailing habitat conditions |
