Minimum Requirements:

• BA or BS in one of the environmental or engineering fields; plus coursework, training, experience or a degree in sales and marketing.
• A minimum of 10 years of consulting experience for pipeline industry or employment within the pipeline industry.
• Experience managing environmental or engineering projects and professional staff.
• Experience in business development including proposal development and client interface.
• Strong working knowledge of the pipeline industry.
• Experience with budgeting, scheduling, capture planning, and proposal preparation.
• The applicant should be able to demonstrate the ability to obtain repeat business through the successful execution of business/sales plans, project work, and the development of long term client relations. The applicant must also be able to demonstrate a health and safety and quality focus for project execution.
• This position requires successful completion of the URS Project Management Certification program within 6 months of hire. This certification program is a series of learning modules and is available on-line through the URS Learning Management System at no financial cost to the employee.
• Additional Qualifications:
• Industry-recognized in pipeline industry and active in professional societies.
• A strong network of clients and professional contacts in the Rocky Mountain Region or similar experience and contacts that could lead to client development will be considered.
• Solid knowledge of the consulting engineering profession, 5 years of which would have principally focused on managing business development and/or client relationships.
• Visionary and a strategic thinker with a proven track record for growing operations in a challenging economic environment.
• Commitment to driving strong business performance, continuous improvement, and best practices.
• Strong understanding of the Colorado and Mountain Region markets in planning, consulting, design, and construction for the pipeline industry.
• Successful track record of managing staff with diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent lisetning and communication skills.
• Experience in developing and leading a team.

Job Description:

We are looking for an energetic senior consultant who wants to advance his/her career with a premier infrastructure and environmental company and has a passion for helping our clients be successful. We are seeking team players to support our Rocky Mountain Region Oil & Gas Pipeline Business Line in providing the wide range of services offered by URS. Successful candidates will be adept at collaborating across our organization to grow client accounts and engage client account managers (CAMs) in implementing account plans. Key responsibilities will include developing and implementing focused business development plans that lead to the successful capture of additional work, and leading marketing pursuits involving client meetings, proposal input, and participation in presentations. Site visits and other client related travel may be required. The growth and diversification of the Pipeline Business Line is a top initiative, and the successful candidate will enjoy the full support of both regional and local resources through a committed team environment.

Direct responsibilities will include:
• Leading, motivating, and developing a strong, diverse Pipeline Line team.
• Creating and maintaining a team-centered, growth-oriented and entrepreneurial business culture that seeks to identify new business opportunities, anticipates and responds to market and client needs, and builds value for the company, clients, and employees through excellent project execution.
• Managing large and complex projects and performing technical work, with primary focus on environmental and permitting projects. Applying knowledge of environmental issues facing the pipeline industry to find solutions for clients, whether in traditional resource plays or unconventional resource plays. Contributing technical expertise in environmental or engineering discipline as needed.
• Monitoring projects within the Pipeline Business Line to verify proper project-management practices are incorporated and followed. Verifying appropriate quality, safety, and accounting standards are being followed. Verifying appropriate company-wide expertise is leveraged for project success. Verifying client satisfaction. Provide guidance and coaching to project teams as needed.
• Establishing strong industry and outside contacts to maintain a keen awareness of major trends, activities, and requirements within the Pipeline market. The successful candidate will bring an existing network of clients and professional contacts in the Pipeline industry, and be active in relevant professional societies or similar networks and organizations.
• Developing sales strategies and driving business development activities, including marketing efforts, proposals and contract negotiations with key clients. Building key business initiatives with measurable goals and milestones that support the Pipeline and overall company strategy. Identifying key project pursuits, and leveraging URS company-wide resources to grow the business and relevant technical capabilities. Communicating expectations to the Pipeline Business Line team, project managers and office management.
• Preparing sales and revenue plans, establishing key metrics, and monitoring performance of the Pipeline Business Line. Effectively manage and forecast sales, staffing, utilization, overhead costs, profitability, and cash flow. Holding the team accountable for meeting financial goals and performance metrics -all while maintaining a high level of motivation and morale and fostering a team-oriented work environment.

Our Business Line Leaders and CAMs have the opportunity to draw on a group of technical, financial, and marketing staff to assist in producing high-quality deliverables and marketing materials. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in team situations as well as independently and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work and/or business opportunities exist. The ability to work with and mentor junior and mid-level staff is also important to job success.
