Job Description: 
Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil and /or transportation engineering related field required. Master's degree in related engineering discipline can substitute for up to two years of work experience or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience.
• PE in the state of California required.
• Minimum of 7 years experience in the traffic engineering field with Caltrans specific experience.
• Proficient in CADD softwares (Autocad and Microstations) for design applications on Maintenance of Traffic, Traffic control, traffic, electrical and ITS design.
• Knowledge of basic traffic engineering design and analysis techniques including use of the HCM 2000/2010, MUTCD 2010 and California Supplemental Traffic Manual.
• Expertise in traffic and electrical design including lighting and ITS element design required.
• Experience on projects in California to Caltrans standards is preferred, but similar experience working for equivalent state departments of transportation will also be considered.
• The candidate should have extensive technical knowledge of Caltrans design standards, criteria, policies and procedures.
• The candidate should have demonstrated successful experience with leadership of design teams, supervising teams of 5 to 10 senior-level and staff engineers. Pre-existing contacts with key transportation clients in the region will be important to ensure successful business development activities.
• The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and will be required to manager multiple projects and task simultaneously.
• The successful candidate must have specific experience preparing TMP's and staging and phasing plans for Caltrans review and approval.
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.


Job Description:

The Senior Traffic Engineer/Project Manager's responsibilities will include managing all types of traffic engineering projects and tasks including conceptual engineering studies, preliminary engineering and final design. Long term, the position will be responsible for business development activities such as meeting with clients, pre-marketing for upcoming projects, creating innovative pursuit strategies, writing proposals, preparing scopes of work and fee estimates, making presentations to clients, conducting interviews as the lead presenter and negotiating contracts with major transportation clients in the southern California area. This position will oversee the performance of traffic engineering duties with responsibility for assisting in preparation of plans, specifications and Estimates. Ability to assist in traffic analysis and report writing. The short term requirements of this position will require the engineer to work in a Devore Interchange Design/Build integrated project office (IPO) in San Bernardino over a 12 month period and will gradually transfer to the Santa Ana or Ontario offices of URS at the end of post construction.
