CH2M HILL Jobs- Mining & Minerals Processing Engineer - Denver, Colorado

The challenge? Help to meet the ever increasing global demand for energy. Our Mining & Minerals Process engineering positions provide you the opportunity to work with and develop leading edge technologies within CH2M HILL around the globe. Each day, you will have the opportunity to utilize your technical skills as well as collaborate with our regional engineering staff to support projects in the mining & minerals engineering markets. As a contributing member of a project team, you will work with senior engineers to provide chemical/process engineering design for hydrometallurgy and mineral processing systems around the world. Work may include preparation of material specifications and requisitions, performing calculations, simulations, and basic preliminary analyses, and support of construction projects. Strong mineral processing background in solvent extraction and electrowinning is preferred. You should be a self-motivated professional engineer with a minimum of a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent), and at least of 7 years of engineering design experience. You should have excellent verbal and written communications, team-oriented work practices, strong data analysis skills, technical problem solving ability, organizational skills, multitasking ability and excellent computer skills (MS Office Suite) as well as a desire to grow both personally and professionally with each engineering opportunity.

Our Mining & Minerals Process Engineers:

Participate as part of a process design team on various projects. Provide business development support in the preparation of mining industry proposals and project scope development.
Exhibit basic understanding of Department/Corporate procedures and knowledge of applicable codes.
Assist with planning and scheduling of process work, execute process tasks within Budget and Schedule.
Participate in meetings with the client and project team to establish project objectives and to coordinate and/or resolve design problems.
Collect relevant data from field, complete routine process engineering reports, studies, and calculations.
Coordinate design criteria and details with other departments, develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs, generate equipment specifications, technical bid tabs and review/approve vendor submittals.
Check process deliverables, prior to formal issue.
Perform other tasks as requested by Process Department Manager.
Model processes using Aspen HYSYS, METSIM, JKSimMet etc.
Participate in plant commissioning activities.
Take an active part in professional societies such as the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME) etc.
Drive ownership of health & safety in all aspects of project execution, office, and personal environments.

Additional Information: CH2M HILL will not sponsor a work visa (e.g. H1B visa, etc.,) to fill this position.

Basic Qualifications

BS Degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, or Environment Engineering or equivalent
7 years engineering process design experience within mining/minerals processing facilities
Strong data analysis skills, technical problem solving ability, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team with multiple deadlines
Proficient with MS Office Suite Proficient with model software such as Aspen HYSYS, METSIM, or JKSimMet
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey complex technical information in user friendly terms to a diverse audience

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the basic qualifications, the ideal candidate will also possess the following preferred qualifications:

MS Degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, or Environment Engineering or equivalent
12 years engineering design experience in mining/minerals processing facilities
P.E. Certification

Degree Required

Bachelors or 4 Year Degree
