CH2M HILL Civil/Structural/Architectural Estimator Careers – Anchorage, Alaska

Our Civil/Structural/Architectural Estimator position will provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting, large scale domestic and international energy and chemicals projects. Each day, you will be an important team member as you prepare Civil/Structural/Architectural estimates for projects of various size and complexity. You should be a self motivated, detail oriented professional with 1+ years of experience estimating the Civil/Structural/Architectural aspects of large projects. BA/BS college or university degree in engineering or equivalent field experience in lieu of a degree. A desire to grow personally and professionally with each assigned project is a must.

Our Civil/Structural/Architectural Estimators:

Prepare a wide range of Civil/Structural/Architectural estimates – from conceptual design to detailed design – for large complex projects.
Participate, contribute and maintain parametric estimating values from past projects/estimates.
Prepare WBS structure of the estimate being responsive to the client's bid form structure and the schedule structure.
Coordinate estimating costs and manhours with scheduling and possess an understanding of scheduling structure and how the estimate feeds into the schedule.
Review design documents, proposals, specifications, drawings, attend engineering design development meetings, make site visits and other duties as required to define the scope of work and cost impacts required of the estimate process.
Have an extensive understanding of estimating organizational structure and process, including quantity takeoff, crew development, productivity relationships, material quotations, knowledge of markup structures and estimate documentation.
Have extensive knowledge of database estimating systems.
Have extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Have excellent written and oral communications skills
Have working knowledge of basic Civil/Structural/Architectural design and a knowledge of Civil/Structural/Architectural systems.
Prepare reports and presentations for internal reviews and for our clients
Provide guidance to design teams with regard to the quality and amount of input required to develop Civil/Structural/Architectural estimates
Review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials
Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, actual costs, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
1+ years of experience estimating or field experience on large complex projects, with a concentration in civil/structural/architectural projects.
BS/BA in Construction Management or related field, or equivalent field experience lieu of a degree.
Experience with computer database estimating software and proficiency with MS Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Sage Timberline and MS access is a plus.
