Requisition ID: POSITION DESCRIPTION: Reviews mechanical design documents of equipment manufacturers and subcontractors and prepare comments and recommendations. Responsible for equipment project specifications, mechanical datasheets, material requisitions (quotation and purchase quality), and design of packaged mechanical equipment such as pump packages, filter systems, filter vessels, and motors. Conduct bid clarification meetings, and project kick-off meetings with vendors. Prepare, interpret and/ or review mechanical engineering calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, surveys, structures, systems or equipment. Assists in preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs and change orders. Apply application of computer aided engineering (CAE) tools and/or computer aided design (CAD) tools to mechanical engineering problems. Communicate complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management. Review supplier's design and support field installation and startup activities. Coordinate client and vendor activities. Prepare mechanical engineering analysis for operability assurance. EDUCATION REQUIRED: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering or related field. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 2 years experience in job offered or in a mechanical engineering related occupation. SKILLS REQUIRED: - Experience and proficiency in reviewing Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), Material Selection Guides (MSG), Design Pressure and Design Temperature Diagrams (DPDT), and piping isometric drawings
- Experience in defining equipment scope of supply with equipment specifications, datasheets and material requisitions for mechanical packaged equipment of varying complexity
- Experience performing technical bid evaluation of vendor proposals and recommending technically acceptable vendors
- Experience reviewing supplier documents including fabrication drawings, and engineering calculations including hydraulics for compliance against technical requirements and scope of work
- Experience in coordinating and interfacing with other engineering disciplines, construction, equipment suppliers and clients to resolve technical issues from equipment design through fabrication stage
- Experience in participating HAZOPs, risk assessments, pre-startup safety review meetings
- Experience with rotating equipment selections, testing and maintenance
- Software application skills - application of engineering software tools for computer aided engineering (CAE) and/or computer aided design (CAD) tools, word processing, work process enhancement, design drawings and calculations
- Technical presentation and writing skills. Must be able to communicate complex technical issues and recommended solutions
