Job Description:  3.15 ELECTRONICS MECHANIC/INSPECTOR SUPPORT:
• Perform acceptance receipt, Care-of-Supplies-in-Storage (COSIS, and prep-or-shipment inspections on retrograde, new procurement, and rebuilt EKMS Principle End Items (PEI’s).
• Performs limited technical inspection (LTI), condition coding, and bench testing on complex communications electronic PEI’s to determine serviceability.
• Inspections include serviceability and condition coding of interconnecting components and/or sub-assemblies collateral and ancillary parts and components that make-up a functioning PEI.
• Utilizes a broad variety of precision electronics testing, measuring and recording devices in making diagnosis and analysis required for proper and precise inspections.
• Utilizes MIL-STRAP codes to assign proper condition coding.
• Reviews and interprets manufactures’ specifications, schematics, block diagrams, technical manuals to determine the operation of circuits, to locate points from which to take readings, and to analyze the schematic layout of PEI’s and components being inspected.
• Assigns Next Inspection Dates (NID’s) in support a COSIS Program.
• Performs tasks through visual and dimensional inspections, as well as operational testing.
• Provides final decisions as to economic reparability of parts and assemblies and is the final decision authority on serviceability of EKMS equipment and components.
• Prepares bill of material (BOM) for requisitioning repair parts, components and sub-assemblies related to the maintenance, repair and calibration of EKMS equipment and components.
• Upon completion of inspection tasks data must be organized, collated, and reported. The incumbent documents results, reports results as required, prepares/annotates and tags equipment by attaching the appropriate tag to the equipment.
• Perform limited field level maintenance actions on retrograded EKMS Principle End Items (PEI’s).
• Perform pre-test, operational (functional), and final testing; final tuning; alignment and/or calibration of EKMS PEI’s, components and sub-assemblies
• Test and diagnose problems in the EKMS PEI, identify any malfunctions, and perform minor repairs at the echelon of organizational level maintenance
• Performs preventative maintenance on COMSEC PEI’s and components to include disassembly, cleaning, reassembly and calibration
• Performs selective interchange and cannibalization on condition code “P” communications electronic end items in support of distribution actions on obsolete, hard to obtain and/or long lead time parts and components required by the Marine Forces
• Perform selective interchange and cannibalization on condition code “P” communications electronic end items and/or components in order to facilitate upgrading unserviceable condition coded EKMS PEI’s to higher levels of serviceability
• Utilize appropriate precision electronics testing, measuring and recording devices in making diagnosis and analysis required for proper and precise serviceability upgrading actions
• Utilize MIL-STRAP codes to assign proper condition coding
• Review and interpret manufactures’ specifications, schematics, block diagrams, technical manuals to determine the operation of circuits, to locate points from which to take readings, and to analyze the schematic layout of PEI’s and components undergoing serviceability upgrades
