Minimum Requirements: • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Planning with studies in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or related field • Licensed PE in North Carolina or ability to obtain NC PE by reciprocity • Minimum 5 years of project management experience as well as a minimum 10 years of industry experience including working on transportation projects using traffic analysis software programs such as: Vissim, TransModler, Synchro, HCS, CORSIM, TranPlan and/or TransCad, travel demand modeling software • Experience in traffic analysis and traffic forecasting required • Experience in project management and transportation engineering and planning task management, coordination and/or and oversight • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills • Proficient business development, marketing and sales skills • Ability to manage and or direct other managers in the use of project schedules • Must pass URS Project Management Certification program within 6 months of hiring • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test Job Description: The Infrastructure and Environmental Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Traffic Engineering Project Manager for immediate employment in the Morrisville (Raleigh) office to work with a highly talented staff of traffic engineers with an established backlog of work. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in traffic engineering and project management specific to the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The incumbent can look forward to supporting projects such as major traffic simulation studies, transportation environmental impacts statements, feasibility studies, and comprehensive transportation plans.
Incumbent Responsibilities: • Has project or task level financial accountability • Makes decisions independently on problems • Development and leadership of Others • Provides leadership, mentorship, training and direction to staff on the team • Serves as a technical specialist for the office in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles or processes • Organization of staff and management of backlog • Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined engineering methods. • Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluations, tests, products or equipment when necessary data are insufficient or confirmation by testing is advisable • Perform as a staff advisor and consultant as to traffic engineering techniques • Conducts peer reviews and makes technical presentations • Conducts value engineering evaluations, determining alternative designs The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to those listed above.
