Job Description:  CH2M HILL Construction Engineer – Milwaukee, WI
The challenge? Helping our communities stay safely on the move. Our Construction Manager jobs provide you with an opportunity to work on exciting and large-scale transportation projects. You will ensure that projects meet objectives by carefully planning, staffing, and scheduling, as well as performing budget management, and quality control and safety protocols. Candidates must possess (or be able to obtain through reciprocity) a Wisconsin and Illinois PE license. You should be a self-motivated as well as a proven and successful 10 year track record working in the Construction Management/Project Management area along with a desire to grow both personally as well as professionally with each construction management job opportunity. Candidates must be able and willing to travel and work at project sites in the general area between Chicago, Oshkosh, Milwaukee, and Madison. Work schedule is variable and may involve night and/or weekend assignments. Strong oral and written communication required along with MS Office software experience. Position requires a valid driver's license and personal vehicle and will require enrollment in drug free workplace program. You should also have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each construction engineer job.



Our Construction Managers and Technicians:
  • Provide overall technical direction for projects.
  • Supervise and direct field staff that may include inspectors, assistant resident engineers, construction materials testers, and administrative personnel.
  • Conduct site meetings, deal with Contractor(s) work progress, schedule reviews, and construction coordination, process monthly payment requests.
  • Lead the construction team through the duration of construction, testing and commissioning of the project.
  • Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, scheduling, and performance.
  • Represent the owner to assure all construction-related activities performed by the contractor are done in accordance with design, budget and schedule, meets accounting requirements, and is completed to quality standards.
  • Authorize and approve all project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, and change requests.
  • Act as primary client contact for project-field activities.
  • Ensure all construction is in compliance with design specifications.
  • Maintain official project log and documentation files. Assist with implementation/interpretation of safety programs.
  • Have knowledge of scheduling software and scheduling protocols.
  • Will have responsibility to deliver a successful project to the client.
  • Provide issue resolution arising from the inspection process or from contract administration.

Basic Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory experience with both direct staff and contractors
  • Highway Bridge Transporatation experience with Wisconsin DOT or Illinois DOT.
  • Previous construction experience
  • Must have a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with special emphasis on Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Have a valid driver's license
  • 10 years of field experience as a construction inspector, project engineer, resident engineer and/or project leader or manager
  • PE License (or ability to obtain one through reciprocity)
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE License
  • WisDot HTCP testing certifications
  • NACE/SSPC Coating Inspector or Certified Welding Inspector certificate
  • Structural experience in bridge construction is a plus
