Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering
• Licensed PE in North Carolina or ability to obtain NC PE by reciprocity
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience and responsibility in bridge design
• Working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
• Pre-stressed and cast-in-place concrete bridge and steel bridge design experience
• Working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software
• Working knowledge of industry standard bridge design software such as Microstation V8, CONSPAN, RC-PIER, MERLIN-DASH, Mathcad, etc.
• Ability to work independently and to take on larger and more complex tasks
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
Job Description:
The Infrastructure & Environment Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Bridge Engineer for immediate employment in the Morrisville (Raleigh), NC office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Civil/Structural Engineering specific to Bridge Design. URS is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to projects including transit and highway bridge design and ratings, bridge type studies, and post-design service.
Incumbent Responsibilities:
• Design and analyze various bridge and other transportation related structural elements.
• Work independently to prepare structural design calculations and construction documents.
• Coordinate the design of bridges and/or transportation related structures with the other project team members including NCDOT and other transportation department clients.
• Task and/or project management.
• Train and mentor junior engineering staff
• Review and approve project scopes budgets and schedules
• Assist in marketing efforts and client relations as needed
