Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor of Science in Engineering • Licensed PE in North Carolina or ability to obtain NC PE by reciprocity • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience and responsibility in bridge design • Working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications • Pre-stressed and cast-in-place concrete bridge and steel bridge design experience • Working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software • Working knowledge of industry standard bridge design software such as Microstation V8, CONSPAN, RC-PIER, MERLIN-DASH, Mathcad, etc. • Ability to work independently and to take on larger and more complex tasks • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test Job Description: The Infrastructure & Environment Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Bridge Engineer for immediate employment in the Morrisville (Raleigh), NC office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Civil/Structural Engineering specific to Bridge Design. The incumbent can look forward to projects including transit and highway bridge design and ratings, bridge type studies, and post-design service.
Incumbent Responsibilities: • Design and analyze various bridge and other transportation related structural elements. • Work independently to prepare structural design calculations and construction documents. • Coordinate the design of bridges and/or transportation related structures with the other project team members including NCDOT and other transportation department clients. • Task and/or project management. • Train and mentor junior engineering staff • Review and approve project scopes budgets and schedules • Assist in marketing efforts and client relations as needed The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to those listed above.
