Provide assistance to the Financial Services Manager in supporting project accounting activities performed on behalf of the Power and Civil GBUs. Including working with project accounting managers in job set up, monitoring of financial performance during execution and liaising with project accounting staff and BBS financial service locations in helping to resolve outstanding issues. The candidate must have the ability to maintain a sense of urgency focusing on critical issues, and must be detail oriented with strong organization skills. Must have thorough understanding of Bechtel and Finance organizational structure, and applicable Bechtel management instructions, directives, policies and procedures. The successful candidate must be willing to relocate to a either a domestic US or International assignment as an opportunity arises.

This Bechtel Business Services (BBS) position will (initially) be located in the Frederick, MD office and will provide support to Power and Civil project teams in connection with the execution of finance activities for the respective GBU's and awarded projects. This position will report directly to the BBS Civil Financial Services Manager and interface with deployed Finance Personnel, GBU management and project teams globally. The position will assist with various aspects of setting up projects, helping resolve execution issues relative to finance during the course of a project and effectively closing out the job. The position will provide a resource for increased analysis of financial information related to Power and Civil projects to facilitate early identification of potential problems or execution issues that could negatively impact financial performance.

Duties include but are not limited to: Review of Contract commercial language and assist with set up of JADB for newly awarded projects, and where required work with the compliance team where projects enter new jurisdictions; Initial input on start up templates to facilitate early discussion with GBU's and project teams relative to BBS scope and execution; Analysis of metric data related to Power finance execution and follow-up with applicable deployed personnel to improve performance. Work with FSM in development of additional metrics as may be appropriate to provide better measurements of performance or indicators of problems; Assist with monthly EGM reviews, validation of financial data and GM reporting; Ongoing review and cleanup of projects throughout the year that may be candidates for closeout; Work with transactional groups (e.g. A/P, Billing, Payroll) to identify common problems across projects that may be candidates for work process improvements; Assist with audit queries (internal and external) and/or other support being provided to the GBU.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to relocate to either a United States or international location as needed
  • A four year degree from an accredited institution with a major in Accounting
  • At least 5 years of construction project accounting experience
  • The legal right to work in US without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Above average organizational skills and the ability to function in a matrix organization and simultaneously handle numerous tasks of varying complexity
  • Able to work effectively independently or as part of a team
  • Good business judgment in the execution of assigned tasks and understand when to seek direction/guidance prior to handling a work assignment
  • Good leadership potential and above average communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in the areas of oral and written communications, project financial process controls, MS Office suite of applications (e.g. Word, Excel), accounts payable, general ledger and billing
