ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Support the Legal Corporate Services team regarding corporate legal reporting, and contract review. Responsible for the coordination of and initial review and revision of transactions to support attorneys serving the corporate departments of the organization, such as finance, external affairs, philanthropy, and marketing.  Responsibilities also to include informing staff about requirements of corporate government reporting, regularly collecting information and synthesizing data received, drafting and filing reports in accordance with legal requirements of federal and local laws, and managing documentation of compliance.  In addition, the Paralegal will conduct research on legal issues and revise documents, such as guidance for staff, contracts and research memorandum, under the supervision of an attorney.  Related administrative duties may include recordkeeping, scheduling, check requests and expenses, triaging client requests, website postings, training and other duties as necessary.  This position requires significant use of independent judgment and action, and communication and contact with various levels of Conservancy staff and government officials.

Corporate Services Paralegal reports to the Legal Administration Manager of Legal Corporate Services.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree OR certificate in paralegal or legal assistant studies OR equivalent qualifications acquired through coursework and/or related job experience.
  • 2 years of paralegal, compliance or related job experience
  • Experience with MS Office, Word and Excel
  • Experience gathering and synthesizing information to prepare detailed reports.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in paralegal or legal assistant studies or a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualifications acquired through coursework and/or related job experience.
  • 2 years of work experience with preference for legal or corporate compliance experience.
  • Experience with MS Office, Word and Excel with preference for additional experience with databases, accounting software, websites, SharePoint and/or PeopleSoft. 
  • Experience gathering and synthesizing information to prepare detailed reports with preference for experience in government regulatory and/or financial filings, filings with tight deadlines,and collection of data from a large number of individuals and departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with sound organizational systems and abilities, such as setting and meeting deadlines, conducting research on rules and facts, drafting communications, following up on requests, and using systems and processes for effective recordkeeping.
  • Experience researching legal and government regulatory compliance requirements preferred.
  • Experience designing or conducting training desirable.

  • $48,000/year
