URS Corporation (www.urs.com) intends to be the contractor of choice to provide superior Systems Engineering, Integration, Operations and Readiness Support for the Program Executive Office, Command, Control and Communications Tactical (PEO C3T) office in Fort Hood, Texas and various other locations.

Bachelors degree in Software Systems ArchitecComputer Science and at least 5 years of job-related experience or equivalent. Excellent communications and analytical skills; demonstrated working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. Position may require the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software. Position may require travel.

Must be capable of providing detailed technical support for software development programs with minimal management supervision. Must have knowledge of modern software development processes, to include object-oriented development and use of tools, and how to apply them to software application program development. Must be capable of translating operational requirements into detailed software/system requirements. Must be capable of integrating COTS products into software/system architectures. Must be able to rapidly digest new tools and technologies and integrate them into existing products and processes. Must have knowledge of distributed systems, and issues regarding database replication and distribution for distributed systems. Additionally, must have a general understanding of communications protocols, and be able to quickly understand the Common Operating Environment and Army Technical Architecture guidelines. Must have demonstrated ability to provide software support on a large software development effort with minimal management supervision. Must have knowledge of modern software development processes and tools, and track record of applying them to programs.

Must be able to pass/maintain a Security Clearance - active clearance is strongly preferred.


Job Description:

URS is seeking an Software System Architect (Journeyman) to provide acquisition support services the U.S. Army and the Program Executive Office for Command, Control and Communications Tactical (PEO C3T) in Fort Hood, Texas and various other locations.

Provides technical direction to design and development teams, and monitors progress and productivity through the use of metrics.

Responsible for design, development, troubleshooting, debugging, integration and implementation of systems (hardware and/or software).

This position is contingent and awaiting the contract to be awarded in April 2013.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Analyzes and studies complex system requirements for deployment of new systems and services Tests, debugs and refines the system procedure to improve performance.
2. Develops, modifies, applies and maintains developed standards for in-house products and processes
3. Provides technical guidance in IT engineering techniques and automated support tools
4. Works under broad supervision.
5. Must have the aptitude to learn new technical tools required for the role.
6. Contributes ideas and suggestions during design and technical meetings.
7. Follows documented software development standards and approaches.
8. Follows the defined visual style of the application.
9. Develops solutions based upon a defined specification and test plan.
10. Develops software solutions that operate against relational databases including Relational / object mapping; Screen creation; and Report development.
11. Participates in department code reviews.
12. Performs unit testing of their work.
13. Completes work based upon the project schedule.
14. Works with the quality assurance tester to resolve any problems.
15. Participates in team design meetings.
16. Assists in the response to Helpdesk ticket support requests.
17. Continuously trains, adheres and learns from peers within the organization.
18. Participates in the development of peers, providing technical and design advice.
19. Assigned tasks are of medium complexity.
20. Knows or learns to use the tools required for the job assignment.
21. Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
