Job Description:  We are currently seeking an Advanced Level Engineer (IV) to join our growing Building Structures Group at the AECOM Long Wharf Boston Massachusetts office.
As an Advanced Level Engineer you will independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications to engineering tasks. You will independently perform all tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for structural engineering tasks.
Assignments will have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables. Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
Essential responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the structural work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope
  • Perform work which involves conventional structural practice, but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and difficult coordination requirements
  • Serve as quality control reviewer
  • Lead, oversee and/or supervise assigned departmental personnel on projects and monitor their individual technical performance, providing guidance and direction, as needed
  • Initiate and complete the correction of any conditions which may adversely affect the completion of the project on schedule and within budget
  • Keep abreast of new methods and developments in Structural Engineering
  • Contribute inventions, new designs, or techniques which are of material significance in the solution of important problems
  • Take necessary actions to ensure the projects proceed on schedule and within budget limitations
  • Review shop drawings and Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Implement and follow AECOM Quality Management System procedures
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Master's degree is required.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Massachusetts required, all other New England states a plus
  • 8 or more years experience
  • Extensive knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques and procedures
  • Broad knowledge of precedents in the Vertical Structures area and a good knowledge of practices of related specialties
  • Excellent Revit and BIM skills are required
  • LEED AP with experience from design to certification is a plus

  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Good leadership skills
  • Recognizes limitations in standard technical procedures and seeks creative solutions
  • Ability to lead, supervise or coordinate the work of engineers, drafters, technicians and others who may assist in assignments. Ability to work on multiple projects with schedule constraints
