Job Description:  AECOM is currently seeking an Advanced Level Engineer (III) to join our growing Building Structures Group at the AECOM Long Wharf Boston Massachusetts office.
As an Advanced Level Engineer you will independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications to engineering tasks. You will independently perform all tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for structural engineering tasks.
Assignments will have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables. Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
Essential duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Perform work which involves conventional types of plans, investigations and surveys
  • Determine in conjunction with management, the technical approach to design criteria
  • Conduct independent investigations, studies, and complicated engineering analysis
  • Prepare design calculations or details, plans and/or specifications
  • Prepare quantity calculations and/or develop cost estimates
  • Prepare reports, opinions and recommendations for the approval of management concerning the project
  • Serve as quality control reviewer
  • Ensure conformance with standards, established engineering practices, applicable codes and technical adequacy of design and construction
  • Keep abreast of new methods and developments
  • Contribute inventions, new designs, or techniques which are of material significance in the solution of significant problems
  • Stay current in codes and technologies
  • Identify discrepancies in results
  • Review shop drawings and Requests For Information (RFIs)
  • Implement and follow AECOM Quality Management System procedures
Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with a Structural Engineering focus; Master's Degree a plus.
  • Licensed as a Professional Structural Engineer in Massachusetts, required; all New England states desired
  • 5 or more years related experience
  • Active member of professional and/or technical society desirable
  • Excellent understanding of Revit Structural and BIM

  • Strong Analytical and Computer Modeling skills
  • Ability to supervise or coordinate drafters, technicians or entry level engineers
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with schedule constraints.
