Job Description: Full cycle, ground up development and maintenance of automotive test and validation equipment, both hardware and software; Design and develop test equipment hardware/software to production standards, complying with all current regulatory and safety requirements; Generate a documentation suite for the hardware/software from original requirements through to formal release procedures; Develop flexible hardware/software design solutions which are appropriate and scalable for end users across engineering disciplines including ride/handling, crash safety, test and validation; Manage work schedule and costs for the test rig hardware/software solutions; Verification and subsequent pro-active modification during test equipment and test item integration; Re-use of tried and tested functional blocks, coupled with innovative design methodologies where re-use is not appropriate; Liaise with project, manufacturing and in-service personnel and other stake holders to capture original and changed requirements; Ensure that all Design for Test (DFT) issues are fed back to the Engineering Team and reviewed with other stakeholders; Technical liaison with suppliers generating Statements of Work (SOW) and ensuring compliance with export controls; and, Be a technical resource in multiple engineering areas of product design such as thermal, structural, manufacturability, serviceability and reliability. Job Requirements : Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or foreign equivalent and 3 years experience in the job offered or in CAE test engineering. Will accept alternative requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or foreign equivalent and 5 years progressive post baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in CAE test engineering. Special Requirements : Requires experience in: 1. Lead CAE test designs for vehicle dynamics; 2. Design and development of test equipment for automotive components and structures; and, 3. Structural, safety and regulatory testing and analysis * multiple openings |
