A electrical engineer/ technician experienced in gathering the field information needed as input to arc flash evaluation s . This is the most difficult and time consuming tasks of the arc flash evaluation and someone familiar with the details of electrical equipment and its operational characteristic is required. We would pair this individual up with plant electricians/ facility personnel so that a detailed knowledge of the plant, although desirable would not be a requirement. Position Overview: Under general supervision, performs Engineering job functions as assigned by management. Typical job responsibilities assist and support management in engineering equipment design and development; system design; materials testing; review, checking and commenting on designs/drawings/data prepared by engineers and subcontractors; engineering data retrieval and field walkdowns; and engineering computer programming as assigned. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned: Provide assistance and field presence for electrical engineering matters pertaining to three- and single-phase application voltages. (480/220/208/120 VAC) with concentration and focus on compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E and NESC and arc flash analysis and safety practices Prepares preliminary and final specifications and designs. Performs field walkdowns, drawing reviews and retrievals, inspections, assessment of hazards: and development of recommendations on field electrical issues and in support of arc flash analysis development. Evaluates operations & proposed modifications to determine compliance with electrical engineering guidelines and standards, federal, state, or local statutes, and environmental regulations. Provides field technical guidance for simple chahges. troubleshooting and maintenance of a variety of electrica l equipment including breakers, MCCs, switches, transformers, and substations. Conducts field studies and walkdowns and evaluates potential technologies for application to improve project performance and safety. Works with Engineering team to provide technical guidance to field project personnel. Assumes the lead role on Engineering design projects as assigned Maintains familiarity with current technical developments in pertinent scientific areas. Takes responsibility for ensuring accuracy and completeness of all data and work produced Provides assigned technical or functional support to team members Minimum Requirements BS Degree in an electrical engineering or related electrical/construction field experience and a minimum of five years of applicable experience are require d . Typical experience ranges from 5 - 10 years. Experience at, and familiarity with, PORTS site desirable. Active DOE clearance desirable.
