Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related scientific field and at least 7 years of job-related experience or equivalent.

Active Secret Clearance required.

• Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs

• Ability to perform reverse engineering on existing Physical and Electronic Security Systems, sub-systems and components

• Experience with automated vehicle barrier systems, building access control systems and exterior physical security systems preferred, including perimeter fence sensors and lighting, card readers, access controls, interior intrusion detection sensors, monitors, CCTV, anti-tamper and mass notification.

• Working knowledge and/or certification with major security systems is desirable.


Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Most positions involve work typical of office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must posses planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Some positions involve work in environments (e.g., shipboard, labs, outside locations, etc.) where mechanical equipment, weapons, etc. are being installed, tested, analyzed/monitored, operated, and/or maintained.

Equipment may be loud and noisy or have exposed moving components.

Such positions may involve routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling and carrying, and constant use of vision and mental alertness is required.

Job Description:

URS is looking for a Senior Security Systems Engineer to join our team in Crane, Indiana!

The Engineer will engage in Systems Engineering support in the area of Physical and Electronic Security Systems, sub-systems and components providing development for new and existing systems, alterations, integration and interface with existing equipment and/or software applications at government installations.

Position requires up to 25% travel.

Duties may include:

• Provide engineering and technical support for the design, development, integration, software/firmware support for Physical and Electronic Security Systems

• Perform safety analysis and engineering related logistics for the procurement, production, maintenance, disposal (life-cycle management) for Physical and Electronic Security Systems, sub-systems and components

• Provide systems integration while ensuring equipment and component compatibility; recommended solutions; review and monitor system for reliability and maintainability; maintain tracking and documentation

• Prepare technical specifications in support of procurements of commercial-off-the-shelf systems (COTS); analyze design data for systems ability to perform operational requirements

• Assist in the development and/or fabrication of engineering designs, modification of original Physical and Electronic Security Systems

• Evaluate system safety program plans, installation, hazard lists, safety evaluation and testing plans/procedures

• Review and evaluate Physical and Electronic Security Systems, sub-systems, equipment and component designs to establish compliance with mission and other specified requirements

• Develop plan for land based equipment configurations in accordance with installation drawings and specifications in preparation for installation of new equipment or modification

• Support engineering surveys, anti-terrorism assessments and site visits for the purpose of determining requirements, installation and/or repair for physical security upgrades and infrastructure improvements through the application of security technology

• Perform on-site engineering investigations to evaluate item reliability, maintainability, availability, logistics support, and configuration status of Physical and Electronic Security Systems, sub-systems and components; resolve problems and improve performance in the areas of maintenance and operation in order to satisfy the requirements.
