Minimum Requirements: • Masters Degree of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) license. • Minimum nine years relevant experience performing geotechnical engineering analyses, and report and proposal preparation. • Familiarity with dam engineering. • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Strong project management skills including maintaining project budgets and schedules, and delegation of work to junior engineers. • Strong client interaction skills including the ability to gain work from clients. • Valid Driver's License. • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. Job Description: The IE division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Geotechnical Engineer for immediate employment in the Clifton, NJ office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Geotechnical Engineering specific to design and construction of buildings, bridges, dams, and other infrastructure related projects. The incumbent can look forward to projects including high rise building projects in New York City, major bridge projects, and large dam projects that require all facets of geotechnical engineering, including subsurface investigations, rock engineering, earthquake engineering, driven piles, and drilled shafts. Incumbent Responsibilities: • Perform and review engineering calculations related to settlement, pile capacity, and support of excavations. • Prepare geotechnical reports and proposals. • Perform site visits to inspect construction activities and provide engineering support. • Assign tasks to and direct engineers, technicians, and adminstrative staff. • Plan, schedule, or conduct phases of the engineering work as part of a major project. • Interact with clients. • This position requires the flexibility to serve as a cross-disciplinary resource to best serve the needs of URS. • The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed above.
