Minimum Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent. • General construction knowledge. • Able to communicate clearly with supervisors and peers. • Ability to perfrom bending, kneeling, standing, confined-space entry, and lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs. • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments in a wide range of weather conditions. • Ability to wear air-purifying respirator, as required by OSHA standards. • Will require enrollment in medical monitoring program requiring initial and annual physicals • Must have a valid Driver's License with a good driving record. • Must pass a comprehensive background check. • Be available for rotating call out on nights and weekends. • Live within 30 minutes of the refinery or be willing to relocate soon after hiring. • Please note that relocation cost will not be provided. • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. The environmental group of the URS Houston office is actively seeking a highly motivated field technician for immediate employment in the Borger, TX office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate motivation to pursue an established career in multifaceted environmental disciplines specific to groundwater remediation and hydrocarbon recovery. URS is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to projects including operation and maintenance (routine and non-routine) of groundwater recovery pumps and associated piping and instrumentation. The Environmental Technician 1 will be involved with and perform the following tasks. • Operate and maintain the groundwater remedial systems at the Phillips 66 refinery including diagnosing problems and repairing systems as necessary. • Work under moderate supervision on repetitive tasks and under more direct supervision for non-routine or complex tasks. • Calibrate and operate instruments that monitor air quality, sound levels, and others as needed to conduct necessary operations in a safe manner. • Oversee the loading and transportation of liquids collected by remediation systems. • Maintain records associated with systems by recording field data and entering it into a database. Communicate field data and systems conditions to co-workers and supervisory staff. • Participate in Behavior Based Safety Programs. Complete safety observations at the required frequency. Monitor and enforce health and safety practices at project sites, including exercising Stop Work Authority • Support operations by supervising other contractors, including writing hot work, confined space, and other permits as necessary to maintain a safe working environment according to URS and Phillips 66 policies.
