Minimum Requirements: • Master's Degree and 10+ years relevant experience or equivalent.
• Cisco CCIE or Juniper JNCIE or the equivalent ISP experience
• DISN IP Networks Experience
• Familiarity with following tools/products necessary: Cisco, Juniper producs, COMTECH EF Data, Cloudshield, IXIA, AdTech, Sun, VMware
• Unix/Linux, Perl Script, Window server 2003 experience
• Experience with IXIA and Spirent testing equipment, testing data networking devices in lab environment, and writing test plans and reports.
• Writing: Ability to author assessment plans and reports or prepare white papers documenting the assessments performed
• Understanding of Defense Department communication security protocols, preferably with the DISN preferred.
• Experience as subject matter expert for engineering related issues on operational network
• Understand IP Quality of Service (QoS) Class Based Services (e.g. Resource Reservation Protocol and Differentiated Services) and Virtual Private Networks.
• Additional knowledge of the following is preferred, although not required: Voice Over IP, IPv6, and Control Plane Technologies (e.g. GMPLS).
• Holding or having the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Job Description: URS has an opportunity for an Internet Protocol (IP) Engineer to join our team at Fort Meade in Maryland!
This position is contingent on contract award.
Responsibilities:
• Provide engineering support in the analysis, design, development, systems integration, and testing of special initiatives and communication technologies for implementation in the Defense Information Systems Agency's data Network (DISN).
• Design plans will be developed based on analysis of the network requirements.
• Perform assessments using knowledge of the following technologies: Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Intermediate System - Intermediate System (IS-IS) Protocols, Inter-working Protocols such as Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), Routers (Terabit, Gigabit, and Optical Switch), Multimedia Services, Multicast and IP Support.
• Collaborate on information assurance assessments such as access control lists, SNMPv3, denial of services and performance. Knowledge preferred on firewalls and other protection devices for networks.
• Provide Tier III engineering support to include analyzing and resolving network problems occurring on the operational DISN network. Resolution may require simulation and re-creation of the problem in a lab environment in order to return the network or network components to an operational state.
