Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree in either Civil, Chemical Engineering, or Natural Sciences or related field • Minimum 12 years of experience working as an manager in the engineering and planning consultant industry, which includes varied and progressive levels of technical knowledge, management responsibility, accountability and leadership • Client account management experience at the manager or executive level is critical • Experience managing a multidisciplinary work unit (engineers, planners, landscape architects, environmental scientists) being responsible for sales, financial metrics, operational coordination, quality, safety, risk management, and staff development • Understanding of the Midwest Market - Industry/Client and Competitor analyses: Must have long term experience is this market place to assist in the identification of strategic growth opportunities and then support the implementation of those strategies • Experience managing a work unit with profit and loss responsibility • Extensive experience in the public sector markets • Ability to direct and mentor technical and administrative staff • Must be able to effectively work in team settings • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are critical • Demonstrate and exhibit a strong professional presence • Articulate with professional presence, with solid decision-making, planning, organizational and presentation skills • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) • Ability to support multiple projects / proposals at a given time • Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and excellent presentation abilities • Valid driver's license required • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test Job Description: The Infrastructure and Environment Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented executive level individual for immediate employment in the Cleveland, OH office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in developing and implementing strategic growth strategies in a multidisciplinary engineering and planning market place by enhancing the value of the URS brand and driving improvements in business performance. The Water Resources Business Line Leader will be responsible for the overall performance of the Water Resources Business Line. This individual will manage and lead the operation through all phases of operational management, business development, procurement, contract negotiation, staffing coordination, execution of services and client satisfaction. This individual will promote and grow the business line, expanding market sector exposure and market share and insuring delivery of quality services. As the leader of the Water Resources Business Line, the successful candidate will mentor and assist with the development of junior staff, providing constructive input and professional guidance. The Water Resources Business Line Leader is actively involved as a senior leader in the Akron, Toledo, and Cleveland Offices. This individual will coordinate service and operations with other business line leaders, program managers and section leaders. As part of the Leadership team this person will provide input regarding strategies affecting the performance of the Cleveland, Akron, and Toledo offices and respective water resources staff. On a regional basis, the Water Resources Business Line Leader will assist, promote and foster the development of new business opportunities across Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan in collaborate with other Water Resources Business Line leaders in the region. The Water Resources Business Line Manager is responsible for regional collaboration of business development pursuits, standards, financial reporting, operations and management of resources. The Water Resources Business Line Leader will be responsible for the overall performance of the Water Resources and Water/Wastewater area including: Business Line Business Development • This position will lead business development activities in the identification and prioritization of new pursuits and entry into new and developing markets. • Communicate frequently with the client community, other members of the business development team, business sector leaders and senior office/department managers • Use relationships with other consultants and knowledge of the consultant community to form teams to win new work • Participate in marketing and proposal efforts as required and will lead key strategic pursuits for both technical approach and pricing strategy • Coordinate with other individuals performing business development, business line leaders and department managers in the pursuit of new work • Research new pursuits before they are published and develop strategies to enhance the ability to win work • Sales and profitability goals for the Water Resources Business Line Business Line Program/ Project Management • Responsible for the overall negotiation, scope development and successful implementation of projects including technical, financial, client, quality and safety aspects • Interact directly with current and future clients to determine project leads • Interact with multi-disciplinary and multi-office project teams within URS Business Line Operations • This position will report directly to the Cleveland Office Manager and will also coordinate with other office managers and business line leaders • Coordinate and promote regional staff utilization to advance interoffice working relationships and promote employee retention. • Coordinate regional reporting of revenue and sales metrics • Compliance with Client satisfaction and high levels of service quality • Operational staffing and coordination • Staff hiring, mentoring and development • Promotion of safety in the workplace • Financial goals and performance metrics The Water Resources Business Line Leader is actively involved as a senior leader in the Cleveland, Akron, and Toledo Offices. This individual will coordinate service and operations with other business line leaders, program managers, department manager and section leaders. As part of the Leadership team this person will provide input regarding regional strategies affecting the performance of the Cleveland, Akron, and Toledo Offices.
