Minimum Requirements:
• Candidate must possess BS degree and 10 years of experience in network design requirements as it relates to developing system network design requirements in a large-scale implementation of Voice and Video over IP and Unified Capabilities and Communications.
Specific experience:
• Candidate will possess in-depth knowledge in multiple areas of unified capabilities (UC) services and network infrastructures that support UC services.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and in-depth analysis capability in at least one of the following areas: 1) network architecture, 2) network interoperability, network interfaces and network protocols, 3) transport technology, 4) business organizational alignment, business process development and business case development, 5) network testing, 6) security, 7) reliability, 8 prototyping and development of network solutions, 9) communications focused software engineering or software development.
• Capable of independent original work on specific tasks associated with one or more knowledge areas identified above.
• Engineers must have a BS degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent degree.
• Knowledge and experience using Internet Protocol (IP), Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), Unified Capabilities (UC) or Assured Service (AS) SIP, Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP), Quality of Service (QoS), and H.323 are required.
• The preferred candidate will have relevant certifications to include Cisco Certified Network Associate, Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate or higher, Cisco Certified Networking Professional Voice and Wireless certifications and at least 10 years of qualified hands-on industry or military "UC" experience.
• DoD Secret Clearance or clearable candidates are required; experience working at DISA or other Defense organization is preferred.

URS has an opportunity for an Unified Capabilities Subject Matter Expert Lead to join our team at Fort Meade in Maryland!
This position is contingent on contract award.
Responsibilities:
• Provide technical leadership of complex unified capabilities and related network technology projects for Unified Capabilities which include Real Time Services such as voice and video converged with data applications end-to-end over hybrid Circuit Switched and IP networks.
• Support includes 1) network architecture planning; 2) general analyses on network interoperability topologies, technologies, interfaces, and protocols; 3) transport technology; 4) business consultation including organizational alignment, business process development, and business case development; 5) network testing; 6) network security; 7) network reliability; 8) prototyping and development of network solutions; and 9) communications focused software engineering or software development.
• Provide technical lead responsibilities for specific technology associated with network architectures, i.e., network-architecture engineering and in-depth analyses on network interoperability and integration.
• Provide 1) lead specialty engineering and in-depth analyses on network interoperability, topologies, technologies, interfaces, and protocols; 2) leadership in defining and pursuing unified capabilities-related network technology research and development projects of significant complexity, requiring considerable originality and ingenuity.
• Initiate and carry out independent work on specific tasks associated with the implementation of specific aspects of network technology projects.
• Manage the implementation of specific aspects of network architecture planning.
• Supervise a team of specialty engineers working on highly complex network architecture projects.
