Minimum Requirements:

• Master's degree and 8 years of experience in a related field.

Specific experience:

• Must possess a working knowledge of and experience with various network devices (i.e. routers, switches, etc.), from multiple manufacturers, and possess the skill and expertise necessary to implement these network devices.

• Must thoroughly understand the necessary requirements to support and install network infrastructure equipment including space, power, HVAC, and network cabling and connectivity and have experience developing detailed installation instructions and supporting documentation to facilitate network equipment implementation.

• Must have a thorough understanding of network implementation commercial best practices and be able to apply the DISN Implementation Standards.

• SECRET Clearance will be required.


Job Description:

URS has an opportunity for a Network Design Engineer Lead to join our team in Falls Church, VA.

This position is contingent on contract award.

Responsibilities:

• Provides leadership and engineering direction to the design of network systems.

• Develops and implements strategy for generating multiple alternate designs at each development level, and trade-off results which trigger iteration of the design process.

• Designs and implements highly complex networks that typically link numerous computing platforms, operating systems, and network topologies across widely dispersed geographical areas.

• Responsible for the implementation of engineering processes that provide for timely and appropriate integration of all engineering disciplines to ensure a network system design that meets all requirements.

• Identifies problems and risk areas and mitigates their impact.

• Performs technical design reviews.

• Provides functional guidance, supervision, technical support, training and quality assurance/quality control to Associate and Intermediate personnel.

• Supports senior staff as required and ensures customer requirements and project milestones are met.
