Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, with concentration in Transportation Engineering • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or ability to obtain one within one year • Minimum 2 years working the field of traffic engineering, specific to traffic analysis and traffic signal design • Experience with Illinois Department of Transportation • Experience with Highway Capacity Software (HCS), Synchro/SimTraffic, Microstation • Flexibility and willingness to work on a variety of traffic engineering assignments • Valid driver's license • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. The Infrastructure & Environment Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented traffic engineer for immediate employment in the Chicago office. Incumbent responsibilities will include: • Highway capacity analysis using various software tools, including Highway Capacity Software and Synchro/SimTraffic • Traffic signal design for IDOT and the City of Chicago • Intelligent transportation systems planning (including the application of systems engineering principals) and design • Computer-aided drafting & design of design plans using Microstation • Preparation of written reports and specifications • Development of construction cost estimates and quantity calculations URS is a leading provider of engineering, construction and technical services for public agencies and private sector companies around the world.
