CH2M HILL Environmental CCR Project/Client Manager – Chicago, IL; Minneapolis, MN; Detroit, MI; Cincinnati, OH; Pittsburgh, PA; Boston, MA; Philadelphia, PA; Chantilly, VA; Parsippany, NJ; and Syracuse, NY

The challenge? Provide environmental expertise/client service development for our rapidly growing liability management practice related to coal combustion residuals (CCR) for electric and gas utility, and power and energy clients in the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States. Our Environmental Project Manager (PM)/Client Service Manager (CSM) career provides you with the opportunity to work on projects particularly focused on solving site assessment and remediation challenges as well as development of CCR management plans and facilities for the energy and power industries Each day, you will be the face of CH2M HILL with the responsibility for growing our business in the utility market, developing project work and leading project teams, backed with nationally renowned technologists, in all phases of the execution and delivery for energy and power industry environmental projects.

You should be a self-motivated professional with 15+ years of successful experience in managing CCR and industrial waste projects in the Midwest, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic; have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology/Hydrogeology (other degrees); and have a desire to grow personally and professionally. A professional registration such as PE, PG, LSRP or LSP will be plus.

Our Environmental Project Managers/Client Service Managers:

  • Play a lead role in building the future of our environmental practice through business development, project management, client service management, staff development and mentoring.
  • Develop electric utility, power and energy clients in the Midwest, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic focusing on existing clients and opportunities
  • Self-motivated to make contacts with prospective clients and develop growth strategies.
  • Work directly with clients to understand and meet their expectations, and leverage work to develop further or follow-on business opportunities for the firm (strong ability to interface with utility, energy and power clients, familiarity with issues common to these clients)
  • Lead various aspects of business development process including client development discussions, preparing proposals, strategic marketing initiatives, acting as the client service manager, and ability to quickly integrate with senior management team in developing marketing strategies
  • Lead project teams in all phases of the execution and delivery of complex CCR and industrial waste projects focused on the utility, energy and power side.
  • Demonstrate experience in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia, or West Virginia
  • Demonstrate experience and a working knowledge of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA/Superfund), proposed U.S. EPA CCR regulations, and state industrial waste/residual waste regulations in the Midwest, Northeast and Mid Atlantic.
  • Possess experience leading and performing coal combustion residuals projects (waste management planning, assessment and design of surface impoundments and landfills), cleanup alternative analysis, remedial system design, and report and work plan writing.
  • Network within industry organizations, technical seminars, and trade shows, including the delivery of technical presentations.

    • This position has the flexibility to be attached to one of the following CH2M HILL offices: Chicago, IL; Minneapolis, MN; Detroit, MI; Cincinnati, OH; Pittsburgh, PA; Philadelphia, PA; Syracuse, NY, Parsippany, NJ, Boston, MA or the Washington DC metro area (Chantilly, VA, Silver Springs, MD).
    • CH2M HILL will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g., H-1B visa, etc) to fill this position.
    • Ability to travel to client sites as needed is required

Basic Qualifications

  • Senior engineer or environmental scientist, with 15+ years of experience, and a dedication to client service
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, Planning or related degree
  • 10 + Strong years of experience delivering coal combustion residuals projects (waste management planning, assessment and design of surface impoundments and landfills) for the energy and power industries
  • Proven client development skills, including previous experience managing energy projects
  • Strong ability to interface with energy and power clients, familiarity with issues common to such clients
  • Degree Required Bachelors or 4 Year Degree
