Job Description:  Procurement Manager, Power Plant- Atlanta, GA

Our Procurement Manager job offers you the opportunity to help our utility Clients provide safe, clean and reliable sources of Electric power to heat homes and schools, run factories and provide goods and services that we all depend upon. Each day you will use your expertise in Procurement Management to help our Clients meet the power needs of their customers.

Our Procurement Manager:
  • Provides direction and expertise to all assigned Procurement related activities for projects within the eastern United States
  • Provides direction and expertise to support the planning and execution of operational requirements and projects
  • Serves as procurement leadership on power projects or programs requiring more experienced procurement representation
  • Ensures procurement is engaged in business development and proposal support activities
  • Acts as the focal point for all matters relating to the acquisition of goods and services for a project during the proposal process
  • Represents Procurement at regional, Power Business Group or project strategy and coordination meetings
  • Provides the necessary written and graphic information in support of the proposal process
  • Provides budget estimates for Procurement labor hours as well as for anticipated materials, equipment and services in support of the proposal process
  • Provides preliminary risk assessment related to Procurement activities assumed by the proposed Prime Contract
  • Provides a preliminary strategy for Procurement execution including any mitigation of risk assumed by the proposed Prime Contract
  • Manages Procurement resources and directs Procurement activities required to support the planning and execution of projects
  • Strictly upholds Company and Business Group policies and procedures
  • Establishes and maintains effective training programs to develop existing staff in support of projects
  • Maintains performance metrics to measure the performance of the region or Business Group with regard to cost savings, on time delivery and cost of rework
  • Ensures full compliance with all Procurement procedures by the Procurement team
  • Assists in the resolution of Purchase Order and Subcontract disputes
  • Reviews major Purchase Orders and Subcontracts prior to execution and oversees all major negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Recommends sources of supply when requested including minority and women owned business

SPECIAL NOTE: CH2M HILL will not sponsor a work visa (e.g. H1B, etc.,) to fill this position. Strong preference will be given to qualified local candidates who reside in the greater Atlanta, GA area.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 12 years of Procurement and or Subcontracting experience with at least 6 years experience in a supervising or managerial role
  • 6 years experience in Procurement/Subcontracting in the Power industry or related industry
  • Significant experience in managing Procurement operations for major projects including drafting and formulating contracts, bidding, negotiating and administering major purchase orders and Subcontracts or specific Procurement disciplines associated with the above
  • Significant experience working in Procurement/Subcontracts in an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) environment
  • High proficiency in using Microsoft tools including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 hears of Procurement and or Subcontracting experience with at least 8 years experience in a supervising or managerial role
  • Global/International experience a plus.
