Minimum Requirements:
The minimum qualifications for this position include:
• BS in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
• EIT Minimum with the ability to sit for the PE Exam within one year of hire.
• Minimum two years working in design and inspection of railroad bridge projects
• Experience with AREMA Code
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Bently Microstation drafting
• Comfortable with railroad/highway bridge inspections at heights of 0 to 150' off of the ground.
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

The Rail & Transit Group of the Transportation Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Design Engineer for immediate employment in the Chicago office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Structural Engineering, specific to Railroad Bridge Design and Inspection. URS is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to projects including bridge inspections, rehabilitations, new railroad bridge design, as well as construction oversight of railroad projects.
Incumbent Responsibilities:
• Organizes and conducts railroad bridge design work which has a well-defined scope.
• Researches feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions and regulatory agency specifications.
• This position requires the flexibility to serve as a cross-disciplinary resource to best serve the needs of the URS Corporation.
