The IE Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Mechanical Engineer for immediate employment in the Sacramento office. URS is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The successful candidate for this position will be involved in complex facility design projects for large military and industrial clients and will work with a full-service design team from project initiation and planning through design and construction oversight. We provide our clients with conventional design, bid, build documents or work on Design/Build Contractor teams as the lead designer. The successful candidate for this position must demonstrate strong skills in the following areas:
• Designs heating, ventilating, air conditioning and other mechanical systems.
• Performs mechanical design calculations and standard computations.
• Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results and follows operations through series of related detailed steps or process.
• Runs models, calculations and designs software. Makes engineering assumptions. Works on small segments of broad tasks. Research design options and code issues with government document findings for project engineers and or Project Manager. Can work on individual tasks with minimum oversight.
• May be a task manager or manage small segments of projects.
• Responsible for quality control of tasks or small segments of project produced, as well as products of technical and administrative staff assigned tasks by engineer.
• Accompanied by a senior or appropriately experienced engineer, where appropriate, will participate in client meetings to discuss project requirements, explain / defend work, etc.
• Exercises limited judgment on details of work and in application of standard methods for conventional work.
