Minimum Requirements: •Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an introductory course to bridge design •Professional Engineer (PE) in Civil Engineering for the State of California •Minimum 4 years of experience designing Caltrans format bridges. Master's degree in related engineering discipline can substitute for up to two years of work experience • Structural Analysis software (such as CSI Bridge/SAP), bridge static analysis/design software (such as the suite of Bentley programs) • Requires excellent report writing capabilities and knowledge in the use of applications such as Excel, Mathcad and Word • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test Job Description: Do the best work of your life! The Infrastructure & Environment of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Bridge Engineer for immediate employment in the Sacramento office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in structural design of highway bridges, railroad bridges, light rail bridges, retaining walls and other highway transportation structures specific to the preparation of calculations and drawings, use of computer programs to model structural components, checking of calculations, drawings and shop drawings, calculation of quantities and cost estimates. Assignments may include bridge rehabilitation or replacement, or interchange design or design-build projects for steel and concrete (precast or cast-in-place) bridges. Responsibilities: • Will work under the supervision of Senior Bridge Engineers • Will prepare bridge calculations, quantity calculations • Will aid in the preparation of bridge drawings • Will perform bridge analysis and design utilizing commercial bridge software and verified URS design tools • Will supervise technicians and junior engineering staff • Will coordinate with other engineers and disciplines in the design process of vehicular, pedestrian and railroad bridges, retaining walls and other non-standard transportation and transit structures The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to those stated above.
