Job Description:  CH2M HILL Industrial Water/Wastewater Lead Process/Project Engineer Jobs - Atlanta, GA

The challenge? Helping to develop and provide high quality, leading edge industrial water/wastewater solutions to our Power clients throughout North America and Internationally. Our industrial water/wastewater careers provide you with an opportunity to work on and develop innovative solutions to industrial water and wastewater treatment for power projects. Each day, as part of our industrial water/wastewater services team you will lead development of industrial water/wastewater treatment technologies on conceptual evaluation and design projects. As a self-motivated registered professional engineer, you should have a minimum of 12 years demonstrated experience in industrial water/wastewater process consulting, design and/or project management, with subject matter expertise in critical issues facing the power industry both water and wastewater management and treatment, and a desire to grow personally and professionally with each new industrial water/wastewater job.

Our Industrial Water/Wastewater Engineers:
  • Effectively work with clients to develop water/wastewater characterization and basis of design, alternative evaluation, treatability testing, process definition, and conceptual design for water and wastewater treatment. This may include raw water treatment (boiler feed water application), ash management strategies, and cooling tower makeup and blowdown or end of pipe wastewater treatment, as well as evaluating water/wastewater reuse.
  • Lead the evaluation of alternatives to select treatment alternatives for water and wastewater sources related to the production of power.
  • Lead development of conceptual designs and technology selection as well as lead water and wastewater process design teams in finalizing engineering design packages.
  • Provide high quality technical expertise in both water and wastewater management and treatment - water scarcity, water treatment and, physical/chemical and biological treatment of wastewater.
  • Work with applicable water and wastewater regulations and compliance strategies that maximize operating flexibility and reduce total project costs.
  • Ensure effective and efficient communication and collaboration with all disciplines involved in managing projects.
  • Help develop and ensure the ongoing success of a high performance team through mentorship and development.
  • Develop internal relationships at CH2M HILL to support the overall growth and success of the firm's operations and to contribute to cross-business unit activities.
  • Participate in achieving a Target Zero safety plan.

Additional Information: CH2M HILL will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g., H-1B Visa, etc.) to fill this position.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Environmental or Civil Engineering or closely related engineering and science discipline required.
  • 12 years of experience including being the subject matter expert for applicable industrial water and wastewater treatment projects, with an emphasis on power industry water and wastewater treatment.
  • Proven competency in the subject matter (expertise and advanced knowledge in treatment technologies) and recognized by professional community as technical leader in the core competency.
  • Strong team facilitation and client relationship building skills with proven capability to lead teams, mentor staff and teach developing engineers.
  • Understanding of business principles for selling and delivering consulting and/or design projects and related project delivery tools and metrics.
  • Well known and broadly respected by strategic clients, and nationally or internationally within the industry professional community.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the profession by active participation in professional societies, authoring of professional papers and presentations.
  • 10 years experience writing and communicating complex technical reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Proven experience leading technical project teams and working with project managers to deliver successful projects to our clients.
  • Ability to travel across North America and worldwide if needed.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the basic qualifications, the following are highly desired:
  • Masters or Ph. D. in Chemical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering or closely related engineering and science discipline is desirable.
  • 20 years of experience including being the subject matter expert for applicable industrial water and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Experience in leading process design teams, coordinating work with all design disciplines and managing projects.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and teaching skills (proven record of mentorship), flexible and adaptable work style.
  • Expertise in applicable water and wastewater regulations and compliance strategies is a plus.
  • Experience with water / wastewater and regulatory compliance for energy and power industries.
  • Experience with water chemistry and water treatment process chemistry is a plus.
  • Registration as Professional Engineer.
