Sr. Process Engineer - Bellingham, WA

Sr. Process Engineer position will provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting small and mid scale energy and chemical projects in our Bellingham office. Each day you will participate in the process engineering and design for oil, gas and chemical projects. You should be a detail oriented professional with 7 or more years of experience in process engineering design work or operations for the oil refining, gas processing and chemical sectors. Production, pipeline, terminal and LNG experience is also beneficial.

Our Sr. Process Engineer:

• Participate as part of a multidiscipline design team on various projects.

• Exhibit good understanding of applicable industry codes and standard practices.

• Assist with planning and sequencing of process deliverables.

• Execute process tasks within Budget and Schedule.

• Participate in meetings with the client and project team to establish project objectives and to coordinate and/or resolve design issues.

• Complete process engineering studies, reports and calculations.

• Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs.

• Generate process equipment data sheets and specifications.

• Generate technical bid tabs to confirm vendor quotations meet technical requirements.

• Review of vendor submittal drawings and documents.

• Check process deliverables, prior to formal issue.

• Will work under the direction of a Principal level Process Discipline Lead Engineer, however, continuous supervision must not be required. Must be able to demonstrate ability to work into lead role and work independently


Basic Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 7 to 15 years experience in engineering "Design" of capital projects in Refining, Oil/Gas, Specialty Chemicals, Polymers, and/or Pharmaceutical facilities.
  • Professional Engineer Registration desired, but not mandatory.
  • Require a team player with good interpersonal and communication skills, including both written and verbal communications.
  • Desire to concentrate on details.
  • Ability to mentor younger staff.
  • Willingness for occasional travel.
  • Experience in process simulation and equipment rating
  • Experience in Hydrocracking or hydroprocessing, Acid Gas Treating or SRU, Bottoms upgrading in refinery setting or engineering practice a strong plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7-15 years experience
  • Refinery engineering for all processes from light ends to heavy oil upgrading, treating processes, sulfur recovery and utilities
  • Ability to plan and lead process design work
  • Process simulation experience
  • New and revamp process design
  • Assessment, design and specification of distillation processes
  • Assessment, design and specification of heat transfer equipment
  • Feasibility studies and process economics
  • PSV and flare system analysis
  • Environmental compliance

Degree Required

Bachelors or 4 Year Degree
