Job Description:

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in geology or other geology-related discipline such as hydrogeology, environmental geology, engineering geology
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities, and experience
• Demonstrated technical experience in field geology methods and techniques
• Currently holding Mine Safety & Health Administration certification or able to acquire within 30 days
• Currently holding profession geologist license from the State of Florida
• Effective oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to successfully interact with facility staff
• Requires time management and organizational skills, and the ability to quickly comprehend facility operations
• Requires a valid driver's license
• Requires working outdoors in extreme weather conditions, and the ability to walk distances on a variety of terrain
• Must be able to work under minimum supervision
• Must be proactive in recognizing and addressing safety issues in all aspects of responsibilities, both for URS and the client
• Requires a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of business conduct and ethics, and the ability to infuse quality into all aspects of the work
• Qualified applicant who is offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
• Qualified applicant who is offered a position must relocate to White Springs, Florida, within 12 months

Job Description:

URS is recruiting for a Field Geologist for a 6-month assignment at our client's facility in White Springs, Florida. After the initial assignment, there is a possibility of a 6-month extension based on the performance of the selected applicant and the client's approval to extend the assignment. This position will work primarily in the field to direct daily mining operations and will be under the supervision and direct management of the client. The selected applicant is expected to have hands-on geological technical capabilities to complete assignments. Position requires knowledge and experience in the conventional aspects of geologic field methods including extensive documentation of field notes. The Field Geologist will work to develop sound and cost-effective solutions to ill-defined problems dealing with mining operations.
