ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
As a member of the Systems Application Testing & Analysis team, the Quality Assurance Test Analyst is responsible for providing technical analysis and testing of technology products with the goal of creating or enhancing a quality “user experience”.This position will develop, maintain, and carry out procedures that ensure all information systems products and services meet minimum organization standards and end-user requirements. The primary focus of this position will be to work with project teams to thoroughly test software to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects. This position will adapt industry standard testing tools & techniques when possible and will develop, document, and execute test plans throughout the project life-cycle. S/he will work in cross functional teams to resolve problems that occur as a result of testing and will regularly report progress on problem resolution to management. S/he will make recommendationsfor improvement as part of the product and service development processes.

Major responsibilities include:

Work in lateral teams to provide guidance and expertise to TNC staff involved in the Functional, User Acceptance, and overall QA testing strategy incorporating best practices of design, development and deployment for new and existing products, standards and/or services.
In partnership with Project Management, Business Systems, Operations, and Conservation Systems staff:
- Provide detailed and comprehensive functional test scripts that test technical functions according to business process and design requirements,
- Create standards for both automated and manual product testing,
- Create and maintain a comprehensive and organized repository of test results and knowledge of testing best practices,
- Work with users to understand context and use in order to use creative thinking to understand how a user works with an application and potentially breaks an application in order to build real world test scripts.
Work with Usability Analyst to incorporate usability best practices and workflow into test scripts.
Work with Business teams to incorporate business process and business requirements into test scripts.
Define Quality standards for department technology products.
Conduct best practices and user research in one or more user testing disciplines to expand, evolve, and update techniques, work product, and deliverables.
Develop, maintain, and use test tools and methodologies with an emphasis on QA practice and techniques.
Design, execute and report in multiple areas of user testing.
This position has an end date of July 2016.

The Quality Assurance Test Analyst is managed by the Program Director, Systems Application Testing & Analysis and supervises no staff. S/he may supervise matrixed volunteers and staff in cross-organizational and cross-functional teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other related discipline.
3 years of experience in an area of technology such as Quality Assurance testing or Information Systems technical testing.
3 years of experience working in Quality Assurance activities and/or Application Testing & Analysis.
Experience applying Information Systems industry standard best practices in the areas of Technology Testing and/or Quality Assurance.
Experience working with Web Application Skills (PHP, Java, SharePoint, and/or Plone).
Experience working in an Agile Software Development Lifecycle environment.
Experience communicating with diverse audiences such as customers, vendors, the public, and other teammates.
Experience working with remote teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

3-5 years hands-on expertise in an area of technology such as Quality Assurance testing and technical testing.
Experience working with: SQL scripting, Web Application Skills (PHP, Java, and/or Plone), and open source testing tools within Agile Software Development Lifecycle
1 - 3 years of experience using software testing automation tools.
1 – 3 years of experience using SharePoint
1 – 3 years of experience using test automation tools
1 year experience working with remote teams
Experience using Constituent Relationship Management tool is a plus
Power user of applications.
Strong knowledge manager (i.e. able to manage body of information in a comprehensive and organized manner).
Understanding of infrastructure and networking.
Detailed, organized abilities to put together comprehensive functional tests, write and run scripts.
Creative thinking to understand possibilities of how a user works with an application and how an application can potentially break.
Ability to understand and convey technical information in non-technical ways for understanding by a variety of user audiences through strong writing and presentation skills.
Dependable; assumes ownership of tasks assigned and willingness to take on new tasks.
Critical thinker with demonstrated problem-solving, collaboration, and analytic skills.
Ability to collaborate with internal groups, to supervise processes, and maintain integrity of testing and technology standards.
Cross-cultural knowledge highly desired.
Ability to be flexible in work assignments and perform in multiple areas of Quality Assurance testing.
Ability to understand and analyze TNC business processes and the use of technology and TIS services by different facets of the organization.
Strong dedication to the development of a “quality” user experience of TIS products and services.
