Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Civil or related engineering field
• Minimum of 7 years of related engineering experience in environmental engineering, focused on environmental remediation for public and private industry. This would include, for example, soil and groundwater monitoring and characterization, site assessments, remedial design and implementation, remedial investigations and site closure. Other relevant experience would include knowledge of soil vapor extraction systems, duel phase extraction systems, in-situ chemical oxidation and soil excavations. Experience working with NCDENR, SCDHEC and/or EPA.
• Demonstrated ability to manage scope, budget, schedule, safety and quality on multiple projects
• Proactive on projects and demonstrate initiative
• Must work independently with minimal supervision and manage and conduct technical work simultaneously

• Professional Engineering (P.E.) license in North or South Carolina or ability to obtain license within 6 months
• Proficient use of computer software including Microsoft Office and familiar with AutoCAD
• Motivated, hard-working team player with attention to detail
• Strong organizational and communication skills are essential
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Position requires a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a range of weather conditions
Must have 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test


Job Description:

The URS Charlotte office has an exciting opportunity for a team member to support the Environmental and Geosciences Group. The candidate will assist with site assessment and remediation project work at various sites located throughout the southeastern US. Candidate will assist in the preparation and submittal of technical documents including site assessment work plans, feasibility studies, groundwater monitoring reports, site conceptual models, site assessment reports, pilot test reports, remedial system operation and maintenance reports, and closure requests for senior technical review. Site assessment work includes regulatory permitting, soil sample collection, groundwater monitoring well construction and sampling, soil vapor probe installation and sampling, and associated reporting. The candidate may assist with permitting and construction of various types of remediation systems. Remediation work includes regulatory permitting, compliance sampling, remedial system performance, evaluation and optimization, mass removal calculations, radius of influence calculations, and associated reporting .
In addition the Candidate will:
• Interact frequently with clients
• Provide technical support to new and existing clients
• Support marketing efforts to new and existing clients
• Manage tasks and projects - full project management responsibilities would require completion of URS Project Management Certification Program and demonstrating the ability to manage scope, budget, schedule, safety, and quality.
• Effectively leads project teams by coordinating and communicating with project team members, other project managers, and other URS offices and supports the professional development and growth of junior level staff.
