Minimum Requirements:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years of housing inspection experience
• General knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet software, tablet or laptop computers
• Familiarity with NJ building/construction codes
• Previous construction inspection and cost estimating experience
• Thorough understanding of inspection procedures, methods, principles
• Thorough knowledge of the building materials, technology and equipment used in the execution of residential construction projects
• Ability to read, research and thoroughly understand plans, specifications and contract documents
• Valid driver's license
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
• The successful candidates will be self-starters, flexible, organized, and attentive to detail. They will possess strong time management, writing, and people skills and exercise independent judgment
Job Description:
The IE division of URS is actively seeking highly talented Construction Field Inspectors for immediate employment in the New Jersey and New York areas affected by Super Storm Sandy. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in residential construction inspection or residential construction management. Inspectors will work closely with field supervisors assigned for each team. Inspectors will prepare detailed estimates of the costs to repair structures damaged by Super Storm Sandy. Work duration for this project is expected to span as much as two years.
