Substation Electrical Engineer - Power - Jacksonville, FL

The challenge? Assisting our power clients meet the demand to modernize their substation and transmission facilities to supply reliable electric power. Each day you will use your expertise in Substation Engineering, to help our clients meet the power needs of their customers.

Our Substation Electrical Engineer:

Working within a project team, the electrical engineer will develop, design and evaluate alternatives to meet substation project requirements.
Assigned projects may be at voltage levels ranging from 69kV up to 500kV.
Works closely with civil, transmission and structural Engineers to determine physical locations of equipment
Evaluates vendors, manufacturers, equipment and/or components available to meet project specifications
Provides budgetary estimates of projects
Develops and monitors work progress on project schedules to assure proper coordination of events during the design, construction, testing and energizing phases of an assignment.
Leads formal and informal meetings concerning assigned substation projects and is able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel both in the office and field crews.
The primary design responsibilities include:
- Physical layout,
- Material and Equipment specification,
- Wiring design,
- Functional checkout

SPECIAL NOTE: CH2M HILL will not sponsor a work visa (e.g. H1B, etc) to fill this position. Applicants who are not authorized to work in the US will not be considered.

Basic Qualifications

2 -5 years electrical substation design experience
BSEE from an ABET certified University required
Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using ETAP, SKM, or PSSE
AutoCad proficiency

Degree Required

Bachelors or 4 Year Degree

Certifications Required

Professional Engineer

Preferred Years of Experience
