Job Description:  CH2M HILL Facilities Systems Engineer Manager - NASA - Huntsville, AL
The challenge? Providing exceptional facilities system engineering functions to government clients. Under our government efforts, we provide all services, materials, plant supervision, labor, and equipment to operate, maintain, and repair buildings, utility systems, and base infrastructure at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. Our Systems Engineering positions are responsible for directly supervising multi-disciplined facilities systems engineers and support staff. Each day you will interact with operations and maintenance groups, both internal and with the government's engineers and representatives, to identify and optimize work requirements to ensure we monitor facilities equipment and system performance in ways to resolve operational deficiencies, improve performance, increase reliability, and improve energy efficiency. You should be a self-motivated, team-focused individual, preferably with supervisory experience; and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each project.

Our Facilities System Engineers Managers:
  • Report directly to the Program Manager (PM)
  • Are responsible for managing a comprehensive systems engineering program, including multi-disciplined systems engineers and support staff, to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Are responsible for leading efforts to resolve operational deficiencies.
  • Provide expert advice with regard to Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Testing and Inspection (PT&I) programs to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Provide support for the development of Building Condition and Deferred Maintenance assessments
  • Provide support to craft personnel including diagnosing system and component problems or failures, providing specifications for replacement equipment, and ensuring compliance with government provided technical specifications.
  • Preparing specifications and packages for the procurement of outsource technical consulting.
  • Assist in project management and coordination of more complex work efforts.
  • Responsible for communications and coordination with government representative, craft personnel, consultants, Utilities Control System (UCS) operators, to insure work is well coordinated.
  • Recommend disposition of Government equipment upon failure or obsolescence.
  • Manage a staff of planners and estimators and other systems engineers as well as other support staff.

Additional Information: Role will require successful completion of multiple contingencies to include an Employment Background Check, Physical and Drug Test.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited engineering program.
  • Satisfactory completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam. Registered PE preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in systems engineering or 7 years experience in systems engineering when accompanied by Professional Engineering registration.
  • At least 3 years in engineering management.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in areas of work control systems; planning, estimating, and scheduling techniques; and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Experience with Maximo CMMS preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft products, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in operations and maintenance estimating guides such as RS Means.
  • Previous experience in base operations and maintenance activities (multiple interrelated buildings and utility systems).
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver's license.
  • Position will require ability to pass a background investigation administered by the US Government. To meet these requirements, candidate must be a U.S. citizen
