Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field. • Registration and designation as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia. • Minimum five years of project management experience and 9 years of progressively increasing knowledge and responsibility as a Civil Engineer. Must have experience working with public transportation agencies in Northern Virginia or Northern District VDOT experience. • Knowledge of Cadd and design software, such as MicroStation, Geopak, AutoCAD, or Civil 3d. • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey thoughts clearly and concisely. •This position requires successful completion of the URS Project Management Certification program within 6 months of date of hire. This certification program is a series of learning modules and is available on-line through the URS Learning Management System at no financial cost to the employee. •Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. Job Description: The Engineering and Infrastructure Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Transportation Project Manager for immediate employment in the Washington DC office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in highway engineering specific to the development of public sector roadway projects in Northern Virginia. The incumbent can look forward to projects including planning, design and construction of a wide variety of transportation related projects.
Responsibilities will include preliminary and final design of a wide range of roadway projects in Northern Virginia, working with clients to identify needs and develop scopes and budgets, managing project development tasks to meet project objectives within the established scope and budget, directing the efforts of junior engineers and technicians, preparation of plans and reports that respond to client needs, presentation of project results to various public and private clients and agencies including the public, coordinate design efforts with regulatory agencies and project stakeholders.
The selected candidate will be responsible for supervising and mentoring staff, monitoring and ensuring sufficient workload, project management, financial reporting, producing high quality deliverables, and adherence to URS policies. The selected candidate will also lead marketing and business development efforts in partnership with the Department Manager and Business Development Manager, including meeting with potential clients, preparing scopes of services, identifying subconsultant needs, estimating budgets and schedules, and making presentations to clients. Strong emphasis will be placed on technical experience, writing and communication skills, quality of work, and ability to manage projects and project teams on budget and schedule.
