CH2M HILL Wastewater Operations Supervisor Jobs - Coos Bay, OR. The Challenge! To work as the Coos Bay Certified Wastewater Operations Supervisor with the team at the Cities wastewater facility. We operate two wastewater plants, 25 lift stations, 70 miles of sanitary sewers, and 50 miles of stormwater sewer lines. CH2M HILL began the Operations & Maintenance of this facility in 1996. The Supervisor will be responsible for managing the treatment of wastewater, is actively involved in the initial planning and startup of the facility including but not limited to: equipment commissioning activities, developing process operational parameters and strategies which will include dissolved air flotation and grit removal system, as well as the five stage Bardenpho activated sludge processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Diagnoses operating problems and directs effective correction procedures
- Prepare required reports and maintain complete recordkeeping procedures
- Assists the Project Manager in updating the Operations Manual as a living document
- Analyzes recording instrument readings and laboratory test results and adjusts various plant processes accordingly
- Inspects plant to determine efficiency of operations, cleanliness, and maintenance activities
- Supervises and trains wastewater treatment technicians on all operational and operations related maintenance aspects of the highly advanced Coos Bay systems
- Develops and oversees the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
- Determines remedial action in emergencies
- Prepares work schedules subject to approval of Project Manager
- Performs employee performance evaluations
- Assists and supports Project Manager in conducting ongoing safety program to include development of job hazard analyses of all routine and non-routine operations tasks
- Proven ability as a leader and developer of their team, ensuring that we have highly skilled, motivated, and engaged wastewater treatment technicians to support the plant operations and maintenance as One Team
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work
- Maintains discipline and ensures proper procedures are followed
- Assists in interviews of prospective new associates
- Performs other duties as required
Basic Qualifications - Minimum ten (10) years experience in the wastewater industry, five (5) of which have been at the supervisory level
- High school diploma or GED
- Highest certification in OR
- Knowledge and understanding of state and federal permit requirements with respect to wastewater treatment and discharge
- Three (3) years experience with computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as ability to operate plant PLC's and SCADA systems, and the ability to train others in those systems
- Possess a valid driver's license with no major infractions past 5 years.
Preferred Qualifications - Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools employed in the general operation of engines, pumps, valves, motors, and related equipment; general maintenance work; safe work practices; principles and methods of advanced biological and chemical sewage laboratory analyses, effects and problems of industrial waste in wastewater treatment processes, principles of supervision and training; principles of budget preparation and expenditure control
- Knowledge of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, computerized data management systems (Operator 10) computerized maintenance management systems (Maximo)
- The ability to train others in these systems
