The challenge? Help deliver safe, reliable and extremely competitive project management services that focus on enhancing and delivering the life-cycle and performance output of our clients' assets. Our Project Management careers provide you with an opportunity to manage cost, scope and schedule of complex building and semi-industrial infrastructure improvements, upgrades, and repairs at our client's sites in Houston, TX. Each day, you will represent CH2M HILL and our client as you take responsibility for ensuring that all safe work practices are being followed by the contractors working on the client site, and will have considerable responsibility in the day to day delivery of advanced and complex projects, that may also be located at industrial facilities.

You should be a self motivated professional with a minimum of 10 - 15 years of project management experience in semi-industrial, commercial and laboratory settings (including experience managing several concurrent projects from the planning, programming, design, construction, and post occupancy activities for major capital expenditure programs; semi-industrial, instrumentation, controls, mechanical and electrical infrastructure projects and mission critical facilities projects representing the owner). The Project Manager has advanced technical competence and the ability to manage the design, upgrade or installation of existing pressure equipment units, boilers, chillers, effluent treatment plants, natural gas systems and sub-stations. These are part of the basic minimum requirements. You should also have a desire to grow personally, as well as professionally.

You should have proven ability to exude leadership during regular site visits/conversations on site, design and construction progress meetings, apply and manage all Construction Management related processes and systems that impact the project as required and lead peer reviews with advanced knowledge, options and solutions that serve as unique initiatives that can enhance project delivery, coordinate project closeout, financial and functional aspects, that eventually lead to effective project transitions to the client maintenance teams. The project manager is also able to align process improvements with business goals to increase revenue for the client and capture cost savings and green initiatives on all projects. Our Project Managers must be confident communicators who can forge internal and external relationships, and inspire trust and confidence at all organizational levels; both with CH2M HILL and our clients. They should have demonstrated experience leading in Safety, Construction Management Processes, Project Management Processes, Project Estimating Strategies, Project Scheduling (advanced, demonstrated execution of MS Project or Primavera schedules), Value Engineering, Contract Negotiations, Contract Management, Space Planning, and Project Closeout.

Our Project Managers:

  • Have engineering, architecture and/or construction management experience to include managing projects related to complex facilities & infrastructure. They have a solid knowledge of instrumentation, controls, critical facility and building infrastructure MEP systems, are able to lead design-build teams, and perform facility/equipment scope development and assessments.
  • Work very closely and have the ability to work with the client's building engineers and other technical personnel. They have experience in the development and preparation of Methods of Procedures (MOPs) for critical facility work efforts.
  • Demonstrated expertise in front end planning, budgeting, scheduling, technical reviews and report writing used to quantify project status, costs, and relevant information used to minimize delays throughout the life cycle of the project. Written reports must be detailed and written at an advanced level. They are able to easily manage and document projects, and produce multiple professional reports at one time, with little or no assistance/oversight.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of infrastructure applications for a critical facility, with advanced knowledge of related mechanical & electrical systems in industrial/laboratory settings.
  • Are project management professionals, capable of succeeding in cost controls, budgeting, scoping, planning, estimating, procurement, scheduling, change management, tracking, contractor dispute resolution, and leadership of other PMs. They are able to work in a team environment and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Have the ability to read/interpret plans and specifications for any project.
  • Will have experience in advising clients on how to plan their approach to Program and Project management for all projects in accordance with client processes and sound industry practice/governance; diagnose causes and identify remedial actions where a project is materially off-schedule as it relates to time and /or cost.
  • Demonstrate skills in quickly organizing and evaluating information and in proactively finding solutions for design and construction projects without client guidance.
  • Assist in procurement duties including proposals, quote/cost analysis, document verification, contractor pre-qualification, award meetings, etc.
  • Be able to manage occasional projects like tenant & exterior building improvements, furniture re-configurations for multiple floors ranging from 15,000 to 40,000 SF per floor in 400,000 to 1,000,000 SF buildings.
  • Maintain working knowledge of specific requirements imposed by governmental agencies and CH2M HILL policies and procedures, including solid knowledge of ADA requirements, Sustainable Strategies and MEP Codes.
    Able to identify project risks at each stage of the project, and document solutions, mediation and mitigation plans.

Basic Qualifications

- BS or MS in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related field.

- CPM scheduling experience demonstrated by in depth working knowledge of MS Project and/or Primavera

- Working knowledge of the CSI Divisions and other methods for organizing budgets/schedule of values

- Must be advanced in computer usage to perform data entry, word processing, and spreadsheet operations (including charting and graphing). Must be knowledgeable in project management techniques and tools as well as the theoretical and practical aspects of project management.
