Job Description: URS is looking for a Windows Engineer to join our team in Washington, D.C.!
The position includes System administration and ongoing operations and maintenance for various networks and computing environments.
On-site hours of Operation are 6:00 am to 7:00 pm, candidate will be required to cover some early or late shifts, as well as perform maintenance during Thursday or Saturday evenings when required.
This work will involve management of the server, network, hardware, and application/operating system patching, and includes:
• Windows Server 2003/2008 • Windows Desktop XP/7 • ESX 5 • VMWare • MS Exchange 2007 / 2010 • SolarWinds • Symantec AV • Blackberry Enterprise Server • Citrix XenDesktop • Familiarity with NIST security requirements and / or DOD STIGS
Job functions include: o Active Directory Administration o Account management. o Implementation of group policies. o User administration o Monitoring of service and application availability o Tuning servers and applications to achieve optimum application performance. o File management. Creating file system and applying the appropriate permissions to secure sensitive data. o Testing and implementation of security patches. o Conducting security scans and reviewing server/application logs. o Review of alerts and vendor advisories o Implementing routine backup and recovery procedures which adhere to designated recovery policies. o Monitoring network traffic and addressing performance concerns. o Troubleshooting system errors and resolution of client problems.
Drafting Documentation o Administrative o Network design o Configuration of the system components o Updating of system documentation
Consultation Services o Provide review and recommendations for policies under development o Provide recommendations regarding technology, trends and government mandated requirements. o Report the status of system and recommendations
Inventory Management o Conducting inventory and updating the asset manager with information on new equipment.
Liaison Support o Coordination with the client to resolve problems that are external to the environment. The candidate will monitor and respond to service requests within the problem tracking systems. Any changes to the system configuration will be documented in the format specified. Weekly progress reports.
Skills:
