TNC POSITION SUMMARY The Gulf of Mexico Restoration Program Coordinator oversees activities related to the science and management of restoration projects for The Nature Conservancy's Gulf of Mexico Program. The Nature Conservancy has been active in the Gulf for more than 30 years and is committed to the long-term restoration of the Gulf's lands, waters and communities. Today, the Conservancy is focusing significant resources on restoring the Gulf's natural systems, including marshes, oyster reefs and coastal forests, to protect people, property and infrastructure, and to provide a foundation for lasting environmental and economic innovation, health, prosperity and resilience. The Restoration Program Coordinator will provide science and technical support and advice to Conservancy field staff working on restoration projects, synthesize and disseminate information about best practices and lessons-learned from restoration projects and other research projects, develop and help carry out Gulf-wide monitoring protocols for TNC restoration projects, and support the development of government relations, communication and outreach plans about the complete body of restoration work in the Gulf of Mexico. S/He will work cooperatively with the Gulf of Mexico staff and state field staff, as well as the Global Marine Team staff and North American staff, to support on-the-ground restoration in the region. The Restoration Program Coordinator will assist with private and public fundraising activities. S/He is supervised by the Gulf of Mexico Program Director. TNC ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Gulf of Mexico Restoration Program Coordinator oversees activities related to the science and management of restoration projects for The Nature Conservancy's Gulf of Mexico Program. S/He serves as a principle point of contact to Conservancy state chapters, and serves as a liaison to government agencies, other conservation organizations, foundations and the academic community for the Gulf Program's restoration activities.
