This LNG Project is a grass roots 2 Train Liquefied Natural Gas Facility that will be constructed on Curtis Island (near Gladstone).It will be performed using a combination of Direct Hire and Construction Management of experienced specialist Australian Subcontractors.Unless otherwise indicated, applicants for construction positions should have heavy industrial Direct Hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken and the requirements identified below.

Role Overview
The Field Engineer Piping and Structures is responsible for providing technical support to piping and structural steel construction operations and shall report to the Area Field Engineer and the Project Field Engineer. Work activities include:
  • Coordinating construction activities performed by subcontractor
  • Reviewing and verifying accuracy of subcontractor daily reports for manpower levels and work complete
  • Providing technical assistance to the Superintendent Piping, Superintendent Structures, and craft
  • Performing inspections and documentation of all piping work in progress on a continual basis, and completing the final P&ID checks prior to turnover
  • Inspection of bolted and welded steel structures
  • Coordinate with Bechtel procurement to expedite and track the delivery of steel, pipe, valves and hangers to meet project schedule requirements.
  • Assisting supervision and Project Controls in preparation of short-term schedules
  • Executing field take offs from "Issued For Construction" drawings, providing input to the quantity tracking applications and reporting daily installed quantities to Project Controls
  • Preparing material requisitions for permanent and temporary piping and structural steel materials
  • Assisting field procurement in receiving inspections of mechanical materials
  • Trouble-shooting engineering design, and resolving issues with engineering and/or fabricator using formal field documentation processes
  • Ensuring piping installations are per latest revisions of design drawings, specifications, standards and codes
  • Verifying that data from engineering and suppliers is accurate
  • Developing pressure test packages and witnessing/accepting hydrostatic, pneumatic and service tests of piping systems
  • Completing and verifying quality documentation per inspection and test plans
  • Completing final system walk-downs, deficieny tracking and close-out
  • Completing and reviewing as-built documentation for piping installations

Basic Qualifications
  • An Engineering degree is preferred but may be waived if the candidate has suitable technical working experience
  • Minimum 7 years experience in a field engineering or similar role working in the piping discipline is required
  • Experience with ASME B31.3, Australian Standards, or equivalent piping codes is required
  • Experience in the construction and inspection of structural steel in accordance with AISC, AS4100, or similar international standard is desirable
  • Experience with standard weld details and weld inspections is desirable
  • Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards including InfoWorks, TEAMWorks, BPS, EQMS and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects is an asset
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience
  • Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting technical plans in a clear and concise manner
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Excellent problem solving ability

Thie role will be required for approximately 12 months

Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
