Job Description:  CH2M HILL Project Archaeologist Careers - Edwards Air Force Base, California

The challenge? Our Project Archaeologist career path is your chance to be a member of our Cultural Resources Team supervising archaeological field work, conducting analyses of prehistoric and historic material culture, evaluating sites for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places, and other challenging tasks. You should be a self-motivated professional with demonstrated research, writing, and management experience to direct field research and produce quality reports for a federal client, a successful 5 to 10 year track record in Archaeology, have a Masters Degree, and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each archaeology project.

Our Project Archaeologists:
  • Implement phase II evaluation and phase III data recovery projects
  • Conduct analyses of prehistoric and historic material culture
  • Evaluate sites for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places
  • Prepare reports and state site record forms
  • Complete projects in a timely manner
  • Utilize their strong interpersonal and writing skills and previous experience as a field manager
  • Have experience completing archaeological site records (DPR 523 forms) and with Section 106 compliance.

This position will be onsite at Edwards Air Base, CA. Applicant must be able to demonstrate the completion of one or more testing or data recovery projects and the preparation of final reports. The work location is in the Western Mojave Desert, so the ability to work in a desert environment is also required. Position requires the ability to acquire a Secret Security Clearance. To obtain, applicant must be a U.S. citizen.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field
  • Qualification under the Secretary of the Interior Standards and Guidelines as an archaeologist
  • Knowledge of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and other applicable state and federal historic preservation laws
  • Minimum five years professional archaeology experience including experience as a cultural resources supervisor
  • Experience with California desert archaeology and history
  • US Citizenship
