The Gladstone LNG (GLNG) Project is a grass roots 2 Train Liquefied Natural Gas Facility that will be constructed on Curtis Island, (near Gladstone) Australia on a camp status, fly in/fly out basis for non-local personnel. It will be performed using a combination of Direct Hire and Construction Management of experienced specialist Australian Subcontractors methods. Unless otherwise indicated, applicants for construction positions should have heavy industrial Direct Hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken and the requirements identified below.

Role Overview
The Craft Supervisor - Piping will be responsible for supervising and directing operations for piping in the water treatment plant (UPVC) and underground distribution networks (HDPE). The Craft Supervisor will ensure assigned construction operations and subcontractors performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets as well asperforming general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.
  • Responsible for jobsite operations including onsite activities of Bechtel, subcontractors, suppliers, clients and their representatives and others as may be assigned within area of responsibility
  • Participation in ongoing construability reviews
  • Support development of the final construction methodology, work prioritisation and the like
  • Work closely with the Superintendent General Utilities in defining scope, schedule and management of interface.
  • Assist in preparation of the detailed construction schedule for assigned areas
  • Support contractor in maximizing performance and progress, and other associated works as directed by site management
  • Responsible for the implementation of the full scope of works for the contract
  • Management, in assigned areas, of all field erection and installation supervision including safety, quality, labour relations and waste management, and adherence to work plans and schedule
  • Performing employee reviews and identifying training and development opportunities for staff within area of responsibility
  • Ensures that Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility. Ensures the Zero Accident Philosophy is incorporated into every aspect of construction operations. Actively participates in scheduled safety meetings

Basic Qualifications
  • Strong supervision experience including the ability to lead and manage change is desirable
  • Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong experience of liaising with and coordinating contractors and vendors
  • Excellent problem solving ability
  • Experienced at managing site safety and quality control
  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, construction or project management is desirable
  • Sound knowledge of reverse osmosis plant installation and waste water treatment plants

Note

Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
