Role Overview

This LNG Project is a grass roots 2 Train Liquefied Natural Gas Facility that will be constructed on Curtis Island, (near Gladstone). It will be performed using a combination of Direct Hire and Construction Management of experienced specialist Australian Subcontractors methods. Unless otherwise indicated, applicants for construction positions should have heavy industrial Direct Hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken and the requirements identified below.

The role of the Craft Supervisor Piping ISBL will be to work as part of the construction team in the safe and efficient installation of the ISBL piping systems on the project, using direct hire labor. The main responsibilities of this role are to:
  • Determine craft requirements. Schedule work to be performed and review work accomplished by each craft member in team. Monitor work activities and ensure the quality of work performed.
  • Ensure the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
  • Approve craft time records using established automated tools.
  • Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
  • Monitor tool usage on the site. Prepare Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensure that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
  • Monitor the activities of subcontractors and vendors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
  • Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned operations.
  • Coordinate activities with other disciplines or areas and clients' resident representatives.
  • Perform craft employee reviews and identifies training and development opportunities for subordinate personnel.
  • Ensure that Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility. Ensure the Zero Accident Philosophy is incorporated into every aspect of construction operations. Actively participates in scheduled safety meetings.

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong direct hire supervision experience including the ability to lead and manage change.
  • Strong technical knowledge in the installation, fit up and welding of large and small bore carbon steel, alloy pipe and vacuum jacket pipe. Experience and broad knowledge in the installation of pipe supports, guides, spring hangers and spring supports. Understanding and experience in modularized piping installations and construction methodologies on large green field's industrial facilities.
  • Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong experience of liaising with and coordinating contractors and vendors
  • Familiar with and competent user of Outlook, Word and Excel applications.
  • Excellent problem solving ability
  • Experienced at managing site safety and quality control
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience

Note: This will be an 8 month assignment.

Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
